  1. The key is a "well designed" concept. Spartacus worked so well because the corps chose to tell the story through their color guard, and were able to grasp the emotion behind the music.
  2. If Bridgemen were still a competative corps, they probably would have done it by now, and the crowd would have ate it up I'm sure.
  3. How many corps has Robert Smith written original music for that are still around? Suncoast gone two years after the 1988 show. Magic gone a few years later..
  4. I know theme shows have been around forever. I have been around the activity since 1978. I am just trying to gauge how people think (Sorry I can't read all 4 million discussions on this topic, which kind of proves my point). The last 6 years I have been going to Allentown, and it seems that the crowd is getting more and more reserved in their appreciation for what the corps are doing. Last year there was one bonafide standing ovation, by the whole crowd, for any corps. I just worry that corps are losing touch with the fan base or is Allentown the exception. Also why did DCI hire Michael Cesario to be a so called "show concept tsar" if everything is cool. By the way I do enjoy listening to new music.
  5. Sorry, the tickets have been sold. Hope you do find some.
  6. Will buy the pair for both nights if still available.

  7. I may be in the minority, but I believe drum corps was more interesting without these so called "show themes". In the last ten years or so not only have the themes become more bizarre, but the music that is supposed to relate to this theme has become more bizarre. I read what corps are playing and half the time you have to really think how the choice of music fits into the shows theme. What are they trying to portray. Not to go off on a tangent, but if you are not a top 8 corps, you have no business playing music that is obscure, original and/or beyond the comprehension of the players let alone the audience.
  8. For one there are no regional associations anymore. Back in the 60's thru the 80's there were regional associations; Drum Corps East, Drum Corps Midwest, Drum Corps West, Garden State Circuit and EMass to name a few. These need to be brought back into existance so the smaller corps can compete on a local level and grow gradually at a pace they want to. As of right now I believe you need to meet a number of criteria in order to be a world class corps.
  9. The person I was waiting on did get back to me and purchased the tickets.

  10. The last three years I have been parking at the fairgrounds behind the stadium. Plenty of parking and not far of a walk. My wife and I have brought food and water into the stadium before (submarine sand.) without any problem. Also a great place to eat is Cali Burrito near the corner of Cedar Crest and Hamilton Blvd. not far from the stadium. If you are looking for something to do Saturday, up in Nazareth is the Martin on Main festival. Lots of great guitar playing and great food too.
  11. I don't know about Allentown in '93, but at finals in Jackson, Madison started in a down pour and just blew the crowd away and built from there.
  12. My vote would go for 1997 for all time favorite. I would go old school as well with '79 and '80.
  13. Do to illness I have two upper deck tickets for Friday and Saturday. Section S, Row 6 Seats 21 & 22. Only Looking for face value and only sold as a pair. Sorry, these tickets have been sold.
