  1. Frankly don't care for the ending either...
  2. The book for BD is really starting to grow on me. But those poles still do absolutely nothing for me.
  3. Unfortunately won't be there (kinda living in Arizona), but this will be a friend of mine's first live drum corps show, so here's hoping it will be a blast for her!
  4. I know there have been ties for champions in the past and even in lower places (such as 5th place in 2002), but I'm curious as to what happens if two corps tie for 12th in the Semifinals. Do 13 corps go to finals? Is there a hierarchy of tiebreakers to ensure only 12 corps? Has this ever happened before?
  5. I read somewhere that members of the Ambassador program were receiving free Live subscriptions (at least until they expire this month). So if you're a part of that, it might have something to do with it.
  6. Happy 40th anniversary to DCI, and to the Anaheim Kingsmen, for the anniversary of their championship.
  7. I liked the full corps chant in the Mandarins show. I also loved "William Tell" in Surf's show. Oh, and the "sacrifice" and drum feature in Academy's show. Pacific Crest's "True Colors."

  9. If I can find a ride to my parents' in Phoenix, I'll be at AMC Desert Ridge 18. Usually pretty decent crowds.
  10. Totally! Well...besides the whole, you know, original corps folding mid-tour . But this would definitely be a ray of sunshine on a very dark day for that member.
  11. Ah yes, I hadn't thought of that, I suppose that would make it a bit harder to do some of the more complex formations with no guides. And ouch, zeroing out sounds rough. For those of you in this thread that did indeed judge shows, what were some of the lowest scores you gave out or saw given to the corps? Either in your caption or just overall? With the more modern build-up system, I haven't seen many scores lower than the mid 30s, and even then it's rare.
  12. Ah, my mistake, I suppose I should have clarified; I didn't necessarily mean that Star's '93 show was the best show ever, or even Star's best show. But I think it is safe to say that that particular show was definitely talked about, and like you said, still is today. I'm just curious as to whether or not this year's Blue Devils show would have left a similar impact on the activity's community as a whole, regardless of how popular it was.
  13. How do you think it would be perceived? I bring this up because I was thinking of Star of Indiana's '93 show. It received its fair share of mixed reviews, but it is arguably one of the most famous programs of all time. It was a completely different, avant garde piece that challenged the traditional form of drum corps. Blue Devils have been getting quite conflicting reviews this season, some loving the artistic aspect and avant garde nature, others writing it off as boring or unimpressive or at this point, just old hat. So if the Blue Devils did put on Cabaret Voltaire in the early '90s, would it have the same effect as Star did?
