  1. "Back in the day" of all-male drum corps... Audobon Bon Bons...all female drum corps beat all of the boys to claim a national title. In the I & E area, Rita Macy came in first in snare...well done!
  2. In the '50s and until 1962, all drum corps had the"standard" snare, tenor, straight bass and cymble. At the end of the 1961 season, Bobby Thompson decided to introduce the effectiveness of the rudibass sound to drum corps. Combining both ancient and drum corps music of the day, When Blessed Sacrament came out in '62...at the first number of contests, the judges and audience were introduced to the "new sound"....I think they liked it.   3. Thanks for the above article! As a student of Bobby T.'s and a member of the 1962 Sac. drumline, I was thrilled! So, Here I am, a newbie with DCP. I am still marching with BSGK Alumni. I am still a rudibass. See y'all in Annapolis.
