Floyd Bennett Golden Eagles - Brooklyn, NY
Fran Haring replied to Vanguard Rich's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
Ryan, if you were a bit older (OK.... a lot older....LOL), you could have dropped in on a Sunrisers rehearsal at that post, circa mid-1970's, through 1978. Then there were the music/drill rehearsals at the hangars at Floyd Bennett Field. It was ALWAYS cold there, even in the spring months. We'd leave NJ for rehearsal at the hangars on a mild day in April or May, carrying our winter coats, gloves, hats, etc. Our neighbors would give us that "WTF???" look. Fran -

If the criteria is winning DCI numerous times, I'd had to guess Blue Devils instead of Phantom. Fran -

Cadets are one, I'm pretty sure. They missed Finals in '74. Fran -
Drum. Cult or just Addicting?
Fran Haring replied to Bucbari's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
I skipped the senior-class Mass held the night before my high school graduation in 1976 to go to the Bridgemen's Tournament of Stars show in Bayonne.... the Bridgemen's first appearance in their new "banana" uniforms. My mom, who was a drum corps fan, nonetheless was not pleased that I missed the Mass. Fran -
What Adam said. Sun's management is doing the right thing, IMO...making sure the organization gets stronger, so the foundation is put in place for future success. I hope to see a bigger and better Sunrisers corps back on the field in 2009! Fran

Fran: "Say.... is there any public transportation from Baltimore to Harrisburg that Saturday?" Andy: "Yes.... there's a bus leaving at 10 AM. Be under it." Fran
-
Yes. Chris called us yesterday..... said he's due to come back to the U.S. sometime in October or so...... then a little time stateside and he's done with his Army hitch. Meanwhile, his wife Kristen and their baby girl Shannon are living in NJ with Wayne and Loretta.... AKA Grandma and Grandpa! Fran

Heh..... my nephew Chris is an avionics tech with the Army.... he works on Apache helicopters. He's in Iraq right now, but (at least for now) on a base out of harm's way, thank God. Fran

Definitely not Frank, but I am stumped here. I probably should know this one, but I don't. Fran
