  1. No military service here.... but I salute all of you who have served or are serving now. Fran
  2. Two of the best ever! Howver, the guy on the right has the distinction of having his name mentioned in the Dead Sea Scrolls. Fran
  3. LOL..... at any given time, Milt is: 1) Working at least two jobs, sometimes three 2) Bowling in a couple of leagues (he's not a pro bowler... but he has something like a 200 average, last I checked!) 3) Taking college courses 4) Playing contra with the Skyliners Alumni corps The guy is the hardest-working man in show biz!!!!!!!! Fran
  4. Honestly, if the Rochester powers-that-be ever add a few thousand more concert-side seats to Paetec and make the other improvements they're talking about.... I could envision Paetec as a near-permanent site for the championships. The city is a great host, no doubt about it. Of course, that means Allen Buell would never get to take another day off for the rest of his life, but what the heck. Fran
  5. What Tony said!!!! Good to see the old Sunrisers "Jersey Crew" well-represented, with Ray Yenshaw and Milt going into the Sun Hall. Fran
  6. I agree.... good to see Tom getting this opportunity. Fran
  7. Hang in there, Sam.... family first, drum corps later! Fran
  8. OK...... I'm thinking that perhaps we can add a row or two of seats on the field, in front of the stands, like the row or two of seats (folding chairs, usually) that you see courtside at basketball arenas. These would be VIP seats. You could charge, say, $500 per seat, with DCA getting half. And the other half payable to me. Good idea, right? Fran
  9. Like the old days!!!! "What are you doing this summer?" "Oh, not much... probably just hanging around." "WRONG. Get in the car... you're playing soprano this summer!!!!" LOL Fran
  10. Kudos to you guys. That is how it should be with all corps who use an honor guard. Fran
  11. Sayre, is that the story of the Troop's DM being the only DM to adhere to the flag code at a recent retreat/awards ceremony? If that's what you're talking about, I agree 100 percent... that was awesome. I'm not sure of the details of that story, but it was interesting. My apologies if those details have been posted already on this thread. Fran
  12. It would be interesting to see how many members of the Hurricanes actually have those names. "Hi.... I'm Hurricane Laura. I play mellophone." LOL Fran
  13. Good points, Gary. And as Dick Pronti has said..... any bid for the DCA championships also has to take into consideration a venue for the I&E/mini-corps show. The current venue for that event is excellent, IMO. Fran
  14. I hear ya... it's scary. He could be Drew's twin brother. Fran
  15. Or the "Blazing Saddles" version: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and Duck..... Fran
  16. I hear that, Jeff.... Barbara and I had a great time being around the Renegades at the North Carolina weekend in 2005...met a bunch of good folks there. And Lee, too. I hope we get a chance to do so again sometime! Fran
  17. I've heard that if you play the Cadets' 2006 show and synch it up to "The Wizard of Oz" somehow the music fits with the movie's story. Fran
  18. Yeah... that was a pretty bizarre setup. The first 10 to 15 rows of seats on the 50-yard line were among the worst seats in the house. A mile away, or so it seemed. It was like we were in some sort of alternative universe or something. The 10-yard-line seats were better than a bunch of those on the 50. Honestly, though..... to date, that Frontier Field PA system is the best one I've ever worked with. Great sound, in "real time".... no delay. Fran
  19. Finally. Someone who has their priorities straight: FOOD!!!! Thanks for the heads-up, Marty... if Barbara and I make the trip, it's nice to know there's a dinner stop close by. Fran
  20. Oh man..... that was awesome!!! We were sitting in the upper deck... you could hear that street beat echoing off the back wall and the mountain behind that wall. You definitely knew that SKY was in the house!! Fran
  21. Paetec is light-years better than Frontier Field, but Lee has a good point here. A bit closer would help. IMO. Fran
  22. Cool! The missus and I are thinking of making the trip, too.... we won't know for sure until a couple of days before the show. Sounds like a good day for taking a trip down drum corps memory lane! Fran
  23. I agree 100.... OK, 1,000 percent!!!! I love seeing/hearing the Cabs and others come on the field to their street beats.... it's like a show within a show. And....like Donny said..... it's something DCA does differently from DCI. Fran
