  1. From "The Raven" - And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming I didn't understand the multiple eyes at first either but now I do and I think they're perfect. The lyrics of "Hymn of Acxiom" also helped as they speak to mass surveillance of all our likes, preferences and purchases on the internet for commercial reasons. It's not just a beautiful song.. it is creepy when you really listen. And at it's root, this is a "descent into madness" theme
  2. I know right? The 15.0 was good enough to beat Xmen. And then... what?
  3. From Atlanta: OC up 1.5 Academy up 2.9 ... big jump for them
  4. Official dci word coming in 15 - 20 mins. I wonder which corps has had the most rainouts this year?
  5. (regarding the weather) Would use the sundance emoticon - were there one.
  6. Just got word from OC busses heading into Little Rock that there are dark stormy clouds, lightning and rain. Hopefully the storm is short lived and out of there.
  7. This isn't about WHY -LOL! Just that not only have there been rainouts but a lot of near misses where everyone was stressed out about it all day - like Denver
  8. Too many rainouts and threats this summer. Way too many! I don't remember this many in recent years. There was a tornado threat once though. Kids had to hole up in locker rooms!
  9. OK Crusaders from out West: Time to clean and climb! Congrats to the drumline for beating Crossmen in Mustang. PAC/OC/Academy/Mandarins: I smell a breakthrough show in Little Rock. OC increased their score from San Antonio to Semis by nearly 10 points last year: San Antonio: 71.35 Mustang: 74.6 N. Alabama: 75.3 Atlanta: 74.4 Dublin: 75.25 Erie: 76.1 Rome: 76.6 Allentown: 77.15 Massillion 79.4 Semis: 81.05
  10. Is there such a thing as a heat delay in drum corps? What a crazy summer weatherwise. Hoodies in Denton not even a week ago and now this. I just wish I could be at this show. What a great line-up! I only hope that some of these optimistic numbers for OC come true. Would love to see BOTH Bloo and Crown move up on the Cadets.
  11. Don't forget Colts! There are 6 corps battling for placement in the 13 - 18 spots. The open class judging, like in Manchester, has been all over the place. It will sort itself out in Indy.
  12. I think it's about ten... someone else may be able to verify.
  13. No one mentioned swagger. I appreciate everything that is suggested above but I also love a drumline that isn't just acting like they think they're nailing it (like many do) but one that truly KNOWS the hammer is hitting the nails dead on and the swagger is genuine. THAT gets my attention. Now I need to watch SCV's drumline more closely...
  14. And keep bringing those Texas kids! They can PLAY! And it's nice to have stadium representation in those big shows down south. I loved hearing the shout outs at the San Antonio show.
  15. No other corps has been on a growth trajectory quite like this. It is amazing. Keep digging OC!
  16. I was referring to the animated graphic of the fighters you posted.... and of course what had been said before.
  17. Hmm. Interesting point. I love the look of them though, regardless if they are messing with spacing.
  18. I like Crown's Space Oddity vocal in their opener this year. This show is really growing on me.
  19. Edit: I predict that this topic will be re-packaged and rehashed many more times as it rages on in perpetuity. All the while, there will still be narration and thunderous goo.... and dancing. And I will still buy a ticket.
  20. I don't see 7th Regiment and Spartans over Cascades, numbers or not. Cascades have a good show this year.
  21. Just for kicks and giggles, I watched all the corps' San Antonio performances, right up through BD and Cadets, then went back and watched OC. And I was most pleasantly surprised. WOW! OC fans, if you haven't done this, do it! The new capes, the big brassline (minus a few...), the towering feather flags, the 200 bpm drill in the closer - . When I think of how far this corps has come during the time I've been associated with it, it is nothing short of amazing. Five years ago I was introduced into the drum corps life when my son marched his rookie year in a then much smaller Oregon Crusaders. The show was called "Dance of the Flames" and placed 2nd in open class - much to the delight of the organization. My son was hooked and so was I. This year he ages out but... the OC flames will keep dancing! Go OC!
