  1. Gonna be a great night, too! About 70 degrees and dry - Perfect for sound projection. Let's just hope for no wind (and no swarms of bugs!). We love Kingston
  2. I'd say that Week 7 of a 12-week season is pretty much mid-season. And Bucs are among those having typical mid-season issues, albeit a bit fewer of them than the others.
  3. To borrow from a more prolific poster than myself - SUBMIT A BID !
  4. Yeah, each corps sponsored by a room - And to make it even better, the corps is required to match the theme of the room !
  5. You got MY vote Too bad I have neither a vote nor any influence on anyone who DOES. Heck, that hypothetical SLO show would be a nice excuse to take a little mini-vacation out on your coast !
  6. Geez, what's the big deal about being 40 ? ! I'm (let's just say less than ten years) older than that, and I still hope to someday get another year or two on the field, competing, some day. I dont remember exactly, but I THINK Cabs have a 60-plus dude in the hornline, alongside the teenagers.
  7. I like the way you think I't not easy to keep ANY corps on the field ANYWHERE in the country. Sometimes I think people forget Job One has to be SURVIVAL.
  8. Deal ! Frank's not spending all that money on gas this year, being semi-retired and all ! Actually, I chose that as my name because it was the first number I learned to play with Cabs. And I'd actually say a RUM SWIZZLE sounds good about now, too !
  9. Duuuude ! I've never met you, but I think I need to buy you a beer!
  10. Wishing my favorite alma mater, and all the corps, safe travels. Looking forward to plopping my behind in the bleachers and enjoying what you've all got to show me!
  11. Well, at least you're not shy about it Seriously, though - Bucs aren't my bag, but, having seen them twice so far, I can say, trust me, they do what they do VERY well this summer, just like they have for a while recently. Somebody would have to SERIOUSLY step it up to pass them this year. Obviously, I have my own rooting interest so it's clear who I hope does just that, and if you're right and anybody does, well, I can't wait to see that somebody, beacuse they're gonna be awfully, awfully good. I mean, that would probably be a bigger shock than 1981, 1986, or 1996! But if someone pulls it off, huge props to them (And by the way - Like you, sir, I speak ONLY for myself! So don't anybody go getting ticked at any corps, person, state, part of the country, skin color, age group, religion, etc, etc, etc . They had nothing to do with my remarks - It's all my own fault!)
  12. Just be quiet riding through Connecticut about 4 AM, will ya ?
  13. Oh, man - If you make this work, that's one MORE reason for me to want to move to the Phoenix area! Good luck! I always thought it would awesome one day if there were enough corps out west, and maybe one or two traveling in from elsewhere, it would be sweeeeeet to see a big DCA Regional up at NAU in Flagstaff, since it's nice and cool (OK, maybe not "cool", but not Valley hot!) up there.
  14. Don't remember what year, but I thought Sky Ryders' "West Side Story" was the best version by any corps ever - Maybe they didn't have the firepower some other WSS corps did, like that one that used to be from Jersey , but, from a story-telling and emotional standpoint, nobody ever came close, to me at least.
  15. Route 133 (AKA Main St) in Essex - Not far from 95 at all. Don't freak out when you see the line on the sidewalk, either - Moves pretty fast. Just a couple more days and I get my weekly fix of "A Mis Abuelos" (And get to see Empire's show that's had me interested ever since they announced what they were doin' back in the winter)
  16. Plenty of street parking - If you get there early enough, some only yards from the entry gate. Can't help you with restaurants in the immediate area - Mrs. & I head up to Woodman's in Essex before the show.
  17. Nine performances (TEN if you count "combined Cabs" seperately), AND looking like the night will end early enough for a stop "somewhere" for a round or two ! And whose breath is not bated in anticipation of Mr. Haring's attire ? ! ? ! Probably worth the price of admisison itself !
  18. Mrs. & I got our tickets months ago - Had a great time last year, can't wait for next weekend ! OP's right - This a a show that you need to be at if you can. Great stadium, should be really exciting competitively-speaking, not-the-usual-suspects for exhibition corps (Not that there's anything wrong with the usual suspects, but variety's great too!). And it's not too far to Woodman's for the best fried clams IN THE WORLD
  19. I don't know - I'm kinda gonna miss having to walk three miles to the stadium (and then forget after the show where I parked!). It's just one of those rituals that makes it really feel like summer.
  20. Okay, I'll "third" that motion - Guess it carries
  21. The info keeps coming in - Those of you who've responded, please tell your friends! And stop by the souvie table next week in WAYNE !
  22. Indeed, congratulations Hurcs ! And congratulations to Cabs' horn line, and to CorpsVets ! Hang in there, Bush - Everyone I talked to loved you last night ! BTW - Terrifyingly tiny crowd considering what's been normal for Barnum. On the bright side, though, that means it was the real avid fans who were there.
