  1. Is it because some guys would want the all-male camaraderie? Which, btw, I totally get. My behavior around my guy friends is certainly different from when I'm around my girl friends. It's nice to have people around you that can appreciate the hard work and effort that goes into a good fart, not many of my female friends do (my wife has learned to tolerate it:))
  2. That's a great point being echoed. Their content is certainly not on par with their potential in my opinion. I miss the green machine of the late 90's and early 2000's for sure.
  3. I think they did. I recall 1 year in the past 10 where they allowed a female guard member. ::2 mins later:: Ok, quick wikipedia search says it was in their Carmen show.:)
  4. Yes, Jeff was with the Cavies until the late 2000's I believe.
  5. Show design is certainly one area that could be highly impacted. I was just thinking of the recent use of the cardboard cutouts. While I think it's clever, there is something to be said about the artistic nuance of having male and female dancers in the show to convey feeling, emotion, etc. Conversely, the carboard cutouts are brilliant in that the corps is working with "what they got."
  6. Cabbybara, That was a point I was thinking about as well. The variable of staff, show concept, etc. certainly plays into it. And since we can't look at performers as quantifiable data points (at least, no one has yet:)), you're right, we don't really know if they are missing out on anything (if at all).
  7. Let me start by saying, I have the greatest respect for tradition in terms of all-male and all-female corps. I understand their historical foundations and have nothing but the utmost reverence for what they have done for the activity. With that being said, I am wondering if the Cavies and Scouts might be missing out on a whole talent pool of females that could make great contributions to all sections of the corps'. I would imagine having additional members to recruit from would increase the overall caliber of performers that would be vying for a spot (not to take anything away from the Scouts and Cavies now, they are absolutely phenomenal). Just wondering what my fellow DCPers may think, thanks!
  8. When was the "standing in place body pivot maneuver while playing" first used (that's the best I can describe it)? Seems like every corps uses it at least once per show, respectively, now.
  9. Interesting difference in the number of props the corps tonight are using vs. the corps at the DCI opener show.
  10. Fantastic show BK! When did they go to the more straight leg marching?
  11. So would that be.. 24 sops..er...trumpets 16 mellos 16 Baris 8 Euphs 16 tubas? That's a heck of a hornline.
  12. Hi All! I was wondering what the typical honline #'s for a world class corps. I rememeber reading somewhere that PC had somwhere around 80 horns while SCV is marching 64 or so. -A
  13. I was looking back at Crown's earlier shows and was thinking....hmmmm.. I kinda liked the old ending better than the new one with the rehash of Also Sprach....anyone else feel the same? The show is still brilliant.....just not sure that the reprise added much....although, it was very cool to see the crown formed at the end.
  14. Hi everyone, I've been reading these forms for years but just decided to sign up today...not sure why it took so long! I marched soprano and mello with PC and mello wih Yamato. I look forward to engaging in all of the convos...take care. Adrian Rodriguez
