  1. Oh yeah, and this. I totally agree with the more Snarky Puppy should be used. But add a hornline taking on Jacob Collier harmonies would have me throwing babies.....
  2. Don't post a lot on here, but I lurk a decent amount so I figured I'd throw an idea or two out there that I haven't seen posted here: All of these to me just sound like they have some face melting moments. EDIT: Tried fixing the double posted link
  3. I just happened to be on the right social media at the right time waiting on dinner
  4. So. They leaked some stuff. I wonder if they got permission to post this or if they're about to find themselves in hot water........
  5. I'm age eligible to march until like 2019 or so, and I don't like this rule change, I mean maybe I'll warm up to it. But if I wanted to see trombones and such I'd go watch a BOA show.......And I personally don't enjoy BOA. I give them all the respect in the world but I just don't enjoy it. I think HS marching band should be fun. I play in a show band in my HS, and it's a blast going out and barking out Blues Brothers, Stevie Wonder or whatever every Friday night. If I want to go work my ### to be in a top tier performance group I'll do DCI (and I will). However I digress. As of right now, not huge on this new ruling.
  6. Alright I'm gonna jump in here and say a few things. I auditioned for Bluecoats this year as I said I would awhile back, and got cut. Oh well, I knew well before going in that DCI wasn't in my cards this year. Still glad I got the experience though. My weekend in Canton confirmed that Bluecoats is where I think I fit in. With that being said, I'm even more excited this year than I was last year to see what Bluecoats bring to the field. Mike Fanning and the rest of the visual staff this year seem like they're going to amazing things to boost Vis scores, based off his work with Cadets and he said he taught at OC so if someone wants to double check this feel free, but I assume he was with them when they won Open Class in '12. He also has this intensity to his teaching method that last years caption head just didn't have (met him at Blue Way in June). The brass staff are also some of the best in DCI. Derek Gipson is an amazing person to work with and I'm not sure if scores show this but I feel he has gotten the Bluecoats to get one of the best hornlines in DCI. I just wanted to say that I feel the Bluecoats are going to continue to be a Top 6 corps and will hopefully start to rise the ranks to another medalist year, and that I'm not just saying this, but I've had limited experience with the Bluecoats to back my claims. Also I agree Massillon is going to be incredible. I finally get to see SCV and Crossmen. And Madison Scouts at Innovations in Brass this year too! .........Can it be June now please?
  7. The Cadets and any variation, though I'm a big fan of the '05 double-sided uniform and the '12 uniform just oozed class to me and look amazing. '13 Music City when they went from white to black pants with red plumes/shakos/whatever you call them '13 Genesis, just a great look that matched the show '07-'09 Crown, Just a classy look, especially the green in '09. '07-'12 Bluecoats '13 Bluecoats, I just love this uniform, it just has so much class to me and I hope to wear it myself someday I apologize for only having knowledge of modern era drum corps.......
  8. Bluecoats Bari/(most likely if I get a spot) Euph. I was going to also audition for Music City, but, well....yeah...
  9. Pretgy sure Im in this pucture somewhere. I sat elsewhere for the show, but moved up for the encore to get that "in your face" action
  10. Well my intial plan was to go for Music City this year...but Thursdays announcement threw that out the window. So now Im in the EXACT same boat as the OP, going to try out for Bluecoats on bari/euph, going to try and make it, oh well, if I do, better start figuring out my finances and school schedule. I would audition elsewhere, but with no Glassmen or travel money, my options are well, limited.
  11. My 2014 prediction- With a lot of practice and a little luck, '14 will be my rookie year!
  12. Glad I could help. Maybe we will! I'll also add this. I went to Blueway this year (I guess it's like Bluecoats equivalent to System Blue) and met the majority of the brass staff. They're all super nice people who made the experience enjoyable and a learning one. I got the same feedback about them from the members I talked to.
  13. To clear this up, I have the most recent audition packet for the Bluecoats (2013 season) because I myself will be auditioning in November for euph spot. It says in the packet that the staff has the right to assign what you play. So I'm assuming that means that even if you audition on baritone, if they feel you'd be better on a euph, they'll put you on a euph.
  14. And as for the bass amps, I'll agree Cadets are pretty intense. But Bluecoats have toned down from when I last saw them.
