GOLDEN EMPIRE PERFORMING ARTS

Thanks! It's a perfect place for a drum corps! Drum corps fans in Kern county have been saying this for years. We have one of the largest high school districts in the country and the music programs are always getting better and better. We are also in the middle of California which makes travels to southern & northern California much closer to home. There are a lot of amazing advantages. I'm looking forward to seeing this group steadily come together. -

All valid concerns. This is not the official website. This is a temporary site to help spread the word to interested marchers. The info requested is basic. It's purely for getting an idea of the interest. An official site will be launched soon. -

Territroop, More info is coming soon. Be patient. It's a matter of days until the full website will be launched. Everything you want to know will be announced very soon. Remember, the website that is here is only helping GE gather basic info on interested membership. It helps us understand the possible numbers to expect for auditions. I will say that the interest is already very high in kern county! That Is a wonderful thing! I assure you that GE is real. No need for red flags unless it's for Color guard. Sincerely, Nick Rodriguez -

I hope new drum corps start popping up as well as inactive corps coming back. There were some new faces this summer and I think that is awesome! -

Thank you Northern Thunder! :) it's amazing for what all drum corps do to even exist. The best thing fans of drum corps could do is simply be supportive of any and all drum corps, brand new or old. Drum corps is so special to the world. -

1st. This drum corps is being ran by amazing people. 2nd. The website is temporary to gather interest. 3rd. The only reason I posted this was to share a positive start to a long awaited group. 4th. More details will be coming soon. All drum corps had to start somewhere. It takes years to establish a program and this will be Golden Empires first year. Be supportive and understand that this drum corps is in fact brand new and under the direction of very smart and talented people. Thank you -
If you haven't heard yet, a new drum corps will be starting up next season in Bakersfield CA! GOLDEN EMPIRE DRUM CORPS http://www.geperformingarts.org/

Crown is performing music that is complex rhythmically while BD plays music that is complex in chord. Both horn lines are great but the quality of sound that crown is producing is the best sound I've heard in drum corps. I'm not saying BD doesn't have technical demand but when I hear crown, I can see the rhythms very clearly in my mind. They are executing triple tongue techniques as well as playing sixteenth note runs with pristine accuracy. BD has some great double tongue moments in there show that I noticed the trumpets doing. I'm sure more instruments are double tonguing throughout but it's very difficult to identify those moments. Crown is playing their book so well that I could transcribe every note. They have a very lean sound and I appreciate that because if they make a mistake, it is easily heard. If blue devils makes a brass mistake such as a crack or over balanced stick out, it's very hard to percieve due to the layers upon layers. BD has a very cool show in many ways. I appreciate dissonance. I'm concerned that they lack variety in chord types. One could say the same about crown. I noticed a statement from someone who point out that crown plays a lot of Bb major. They probably do but each musical idea is unique. I'm able to identify each moment of the show. Crown is also taking major risks by playing music that is so rhythmically complicated. It's not easy to maintain relaxation in order to play the music they are playing sitting down let alone moving at high velocity. Both corps are amazing but crown is connecting with the audience not just bedause they are crown but because they are playing music that is both extremely demanding and captivating. They have a very virtuosic book and they perform with mastery.
