  1. While I would never notice how someone grips their drum stick (as I know nothing about drum technique), I think it is cool that they pay attention to the most minute details. It may not mean anything to me, but it could mean something to the performers who now have a small link to their corp's history. I usually find out things like that after the season but always appreciate how the designers of the shows integrate small details that relate to their shows even though I never notice them.
  2. He even admitted that after all of his years in drum corps he doesn't have it all figured out.
  3. I hear ya! However, I'm putting my hope in SCV this year. Great to see them back in the thick of things. Hope they can go all the way. It's funny; I like a lot of corps like CC, Bluecoats, SCV, PR, Cavies, Crossmen, etc but I always go back to the Cadets as my favorite even if I like other corps' shows better. I guess there's some sentimentality there that just won't quit.
  4. I can't wait to see SCV in Allentown. I would be so excited to see them win another championship. BD and the Bluecoats will be fighting them for the title though.
  5. It sounds like from some of the reports that it's the same story as the last few years: Cadets will not be improving enough to overtake their closest competition that's already ahead of them and may even slip. Kind of tired of hoping that they will return to the "glory days." They have lost their way.
  6. That's the show that made the Cadets my favorite corps before I started going to competitions to see them live. I saw it on PBS and thought, "wow! what a cool show and drill!"
  7. If I like the Cadets show, that will be good for me even if it doesn't place as well as I would like. Last year's show was so disappointing. I really haven't loved Boston's shows the last few years either even though they are a favorite of mine too. I hope I like both shows. I would really like to see a battle and some competitiveness there.
  8. My biggest concern is their track record from the last few years. They haven't gotten stronger or progressed at a steady or greater rate than their competition. They just can't seem to clean as well as they used to.
  9. Quote from Hop on FB: Onward to Chattanooga for a day of rehearsal and laundry. Congrats to Boston. I am sure they are excited this evening. For the Cadets ... back to work. We have endings and re-writes and additions and subtractions. It's a long year .... lots to do ... lots to take on. And as I explained to the kids today, to not believe in the possibility of hard work is to be a cynic. And there is nothing attractive in expecting the worst. Work hard .... question all ... look for a better way ... but trust the process. Trust the ideas. Trust who you are and what you have to give the world. And ... you lose once and a while. Happy evening to all ...
  10. Way to go, Boston! Can't wait to see your show live in Allentown!
  11. i found it and watched it. it's good. i searched for "The Cadets 2017 Orlando."
  12. This is the same thing as last year. Never could get clean enough to compete with the other corps who were cleaning faster.
  13. Can't wait to see them in Allentown (DCI East)!
  14. Wow! Way to go, SCV! Nice to see them win a competition over last year's champion who is also strong this year!
  15. For sure! Would like to see them pass the Cavaliers (nothing against them).
  16. It does not, but I am looking at the past few years where they just never seemed to make up the gap. Hoping it's not this year but I am being realistic.
  17. Yeah, their guard came in 3rd which is surprising since they were placing very well earlier in the season.
  18. They're closer to the Cavaliers but Crown has pulled farther ahead.
