  1. Mom?? Pretty sad when an age-out and her mom are both camped out on DCP 1000's of miles apart (I'm in ND for the summer she's in NJ) waiting to hear how her old corps did. :-) I love you Mom!!!! C'mon SURF!!!!
  2. Back when I marched Surf -- a long time ago, I know... but we always had like half the world trying out for the snare line. I mean seriously, what corps doesn't have like 1/2 a gym of drum pads first camp?? I have no idea how they've been the last two years, but yeah the number of people trying out for snare spots is totally not a good stat to go by. lol. Hopefully they're doing well though - Surf's up.
  3. I'm curious, since I'm not really a fan -- do sports teams do this? I mean 'the recruiters went to a lot of schools this year - we'll have a great team next year and wow everyone' .... no? That just seems a little odd to me. We've only just had the first round of auditions - which - I hate to break it to ya - but your 80 person horline at audition weekend will dwindle. People will realize 'oh, this is hard. I don't wanna do this.' or 'you mean I can't pay my tuition fees in beads and chickens?' or 'oh man, I didn't pass algebra and have to go to summer school' not to mention the 'sweet! I got into Blue Bananas! I'll march there instead!!' or the 'my family really needs me to work this summer' the excuses go on and on and on...... Wait a few more months. Let your lines actually get settled. Let the guards do winter guard and come back in the spring for their final auditions pumped and ready. Patience. Perseverance. Practice. .....yeah.
  4. I wish the Div 1 corps that I marched with had had one. When you go to the ER and you hear "it could be a blood clot" and have to get an MRI - it's just a bit scary. Then, you leave midseason only to find out later on down the line that the 22" ankle had actually been fractured and healed "a little weird" which makes running hurt like a ---- well yeah. Good ending though -- Pilates has really strengthened my legs now and I can run with only a little pain now - amazing! The thing that I wish all corps would do is get their members to do Pilates - it REALLY strengthens everything. I know DCI had an article that Cavies did. If I only had the right anatomy.....
  5. you have to check www.corpsreps.com for that.
  6. Hey - So I'm studying in Wales (University of Swansea) in the fall; just wondering if there are any drum corps people around there that might want to hang out at some point.... ~Carolyn
