The Southern Knights are coming to Chattanooga, Tennessee! Founded in 2015 in Alabama, and after 7 successful seasons there, The Southern Knights are excited to announce our move to Chattanooga, Tennessee! "The Southern Knights have provided an educational program of the highest quality to hundreds of students over the last 7 years" says Executive Director John Hoekstra. "We are excited to help even more students continue their journey in the marching arts, developing their musical, visual, and performance abilities in an atmosphere that fosters teamwork, self discipline, preparedness, leadership, and lifelong friendships." The Southern Knights are indeed moving to Open Class this summer. We looked at the opportunity to fill that 10th spot this year seeings how all are in. Yes there are more share points to an Open Finalist. Our goal has always been to move to Open eventually with higher numbers. We have a full 128. (Just kidding) We are still mid 50's this year. Reading and Atlanta don't have to look over their shoulders for us just yet... 🙂 We feel this will be a growing experience for us. So we moved up considering the circumstances. This way there are still 10 Open and 4 Class A Finalists! This will be our 3rd year in DCA... We are enjoying every moment to be on the field, which appears to be harder to do every year. The Baritone spot has been filled!

The Southern Knights just had a baritone spot open up due to a job transfer. We have 4 weekends of Camps to learn the show before we head to Championships. The first goal of the season has been met by the Southern Knights of Birmingham, Al. We set out to have the drill completed by Memorial Day weekend. We were able to complete the drill by 6:40pm Saturday night with our first complete run through of the closer drill. We ran it 3 times with just visual, and then set it to music. We were able to complete the sop section with 2 new members this weekend! Welcome Garrett and Bethany! Unfortunately, anyone who has been around the activity knows what May brings.... Some people who have been here all winter, decide that they have other things they would rather do over the summer. So now we have a handful of spots to fill. 1 snare, 1-2 tenor, 1 bass in the battery. The hornline needs 2 bari and 1 -2 mello. This is the sort of thing that drives directors crazy! Haven't heard that it was off yet...

The Southern Knights just completed another camp. We now have 54 sets of drill with visuals onto the field. That is all of Mvts. 1 & 2. About 5 minutes of the show marched and played on April 9th. This show is so much fun to perform! We do have a couple soprano spots, and 1 contra spot that just opened up. Must have previous marching experience.

The Southern Knights were able to put the entire Mvt. 1 onto the field this weekend. 2 minutes of show marched and played, with all visuals added already! Great job from members and staff to accomplish this goal!!! Next up in 2 weeks.... Mvt.2.

Yes we are Larry. We passed evaluation. Rochester will get to see the Southern Knights this year!

The Southern Knights are holding camp this weekend, February 18th and 19th. We will have a visitor from DCA this weekend as well, for our DCA evaluation to compete this summer. We are hoping things go well for us, and for all the other corps who are trying to make it out this year! See you on the other side...
