  1. Sorry if this has been stated but this is something I have wondered in the past....but in response to the earlier post about the BD team having the success they have year after year; when watching the BD members perform, they are by far across the board, (in my opinion) superior performers on an individual basis compared to most of the other World Class corps. Yes, many of the corps have some members that are equally skilled and have superior performance abilities, but outside of BD, I find the individual skill level begins to drop as you move down the DCI rankings. I have wondered though how quickly the BD team could make another corps, outside of the top 6, a championship contender, consistently placing in the top 3-4 spots or even winning. Would the skilled players flock to the corps they work with? Would we see a migration of members like we see when a drum caption head moves from one corps to another? Or would the staff take the approach of building up the group from within and helping each member become the superior performers we see today in the very top corps? This may have been discussed at another time, but I did not catch it.
  2. Is there a gathering place in Denton for drum corps fans to discuss their favorite corps, shows, and do it over a cold adult beverage?
  3. Do you have tix for the show tonight?
  4. The V-Krewe Brass Ensemble will be performing at 7Pm on the main stage at the Denton Holiday Lighting Festival. This will be our 4th year at this event and we look forward to another great crowd and performance. http://dentonholidaylighting.com/event-info/ The V-Krewe Brass is sponsored by the Vigilantes Performing Arts Association. The group performs around the Dallas - Fort Worth metro area year round. The group is open to those who are interested in a performance option to the community bands and playing a variety of music for small and large brass groups.

  6. Funny....I was thinking Troopers got a great draw....but so did the Blue Stars. Going on after Boston and Spirit should be a good thing for the Stars....assuming they perform well. :-)
  7. Did you get any pics or Video of the Vigilantes? We have some plus a video we posted on the V-Krewe Brass Facebook Group Page. If you have any you can share, we would love to have them. Thanks!
  8. We (Vigilantes) had a great time in Austin. The crowd was very welcoming and we enjoyed performing for everyone. Thanks for the great comments!

  10. Vigilantes are still performing in the area as a brass ensemble. No marching this season. They also are on the verge of kicking off a new Winter Drumline and working towards starting a World Class WGI group. Next year the corps is planning to attend DCA in MD.
  11. Not sure why the Vigilantes are on the schedule. They had informed DCI several months ago they will not be marching this year. So....does DCI move everything up 15 minutes or just wait for the Forte slot to kick off the show?
  12. Vigilantes Announcement to purchase a line of Bb instruments.

  14. Vigilantes move to Bb in 2011 Denton, TX – January 6, 2011 – The Vigilantes took delivery this week of 62 Dynasty marching brass instruments. A crew of 2 picked up the line of Bb horns (F Mellos) in Columbus, OH on Wednesday January 5th and delivered them back to North, TX on Thursday in time for the Vigilantes first rehearsal of the season, the weekend of Jan 8th. “It was a tough decision to move from G to Bb so soon in our existence” said Roger Treacher, Exec. Director of the Vigilantes, “but the opportunity was there for us to purchase a quality line of marching brass which we can grow with over the next few years”. “The timing of the purchase was very good” said Terry Pritchard, Program Coordinator and Brass Caption Head for the Vigilantes, “as this allowed our arranger, Brad Green, to consider the arrangements for Bb rather than G arrangements transposed to Bb later in the season”. This weekend the corps will receive the first movement of their show entitled Fade to Blue and will be performing it on Sunday. The Vigilantes will be competing in DCA Class A competition in 2011. The management team and membership are extremely excited about what this year will hold for the organization. The group is positioned well for a strong season and future growth. They will continue to build on their first two successful years with a fun, entertaining, championship quality field show for years to come. With the purchase of the new brass line, the Vigilantes have a larger number of G Bugles that they will be selling immediately. If you are interested in inquiring about purchasing some or all of the bugles, you may contact the corps at roger.treacher@vigilantescorps.org.
