  2. As a supporting venture, Storm Productions is launching a referral advertising service for arrangers, instructors, clinicians, and designers involved in the Pageantry Arts. The project is just getting started and will offer space to contractors who will make their own arrangements for service with the various customers. This venture will simply be a place for people to advertise their services. The cost of advertising will be $10 a month or $75 a year. All proceeds will go to support Storm Drum Corps and Storm Winds. Those wishing to subscribe to this service only need to send their information, picture and contact information to director@indianastorm.net. Since the subscription is actually a donation to the Storm programs, the fee is tax deductible. As we get more subscribers each individual will be provided a page to include samples of their work. We do ask that you do not post pricing information but share that with the customers when they contact you. Storm Design Concepts will post advertising on Google and Facebook. All arrangements involving copyright laws are the responsibility of the individual subscriber to disclose to their customer. Indiana Storm Productions / Storm Design Consultants assumes no responsibility for this requirement. The site is currently being developed at: http://stormdesignconsulting.com/
  3. Interesting conversation with a music teacher today… He added a new perspective to beginning drum corps recruiting problems... Many band directors are convinced that DC wants to steal their most talented performers. The fact that most corps have the policy .. commitment to band first addresses part of the problem, but many programs have been burned in the past by organizations who have said the same thing and then still put enormous pressure on the student when a conflict arises... the second situation is one that is very hard to address... Many band directors are afraid that if their students get a taste of drum corps, they will lose interest in "ordinary" band and just not join. Band directors are afraid that they just cannot compete with the level of rigor that the corps experience provides. Either way, they feel that they will lose people. As a result, beginning corps must be steadfast in their commitment to the promotion of educational and community band programs. Storm's philosophy is to walk hand in hand with these talented directors and their programs. It would be poor planning to become the agent that destroys the prime source of membership. As a result, Storm Drum Corps and Storm Winds wish to assure all band programs that we will always keep the interest of community foremost in our thoughts. We are here to offer an opportunity to help support and grow music education, not hinder it. As such, each director is invited to become part of our program in an advisory role... to partner in our success so that we can partner in theirs. Each can choose their level of involvement (or not) in this great venture. As a professor at Indiana State University, the educational well-being of the students and the schools is always forefront in my thinking and will be impressed upon every element, staff member, and instructor of Storm and Storm Winds. 8. Steel City Ambassadors Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps is currently recruiting new and old members. Just to clarify, you do not have to have been a past member of the corps to participate. In fact, new members are the corps life blood. We are looking forward to an exciting season this year. This years program is as follows: Salvation Is Created – Warm-up Here's That Rainy Day How High the Moon Blue Bossa Legend of The One Eyed Sailor and a reprise of National Emblem Jazz (The corps signature number) We are currently looking for 8-10 percussion players who may play both as a standard drum corps percussion section for parades and will also participate in the full corps SDCA shows throughout the summer playing grounded percussion. What would be ideal would be to find a person or two who may do double duty on keyboard for the SDCA shows as well as standard drums for the parades. Several brass positions are also open. The corps would also like to find 8-10 guard members to participate in parades and SDCA shows. The corps traditionally also performs in tone manner or another at the Drum Corps Associates world championships in Rochester, New York. If you are interested, please email Director@steelcityambassadors.org for more information. Also, please plan to attend our open house 2:00 - 6:00 PM on January 10, 2016 at our wonderful new facilities at: Winchester Thurston School 555 Morewood Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15213
