We can agree to disagree. You’re rarely ever right. I’ll take the indoor stadiums. -

UMB is an out of the way place on the tour schedule. St. Louis or Cincinnati makes more sense for big Regional shows these days. -
I’m expecting them to make a jump over a corps very soon.

Field Mics for Entire Ensemble
Jim Schehr replied to Quad Aces's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I get it. I understand why they do it. I don’t dislike it. I remember when brass lines filled the stadium without microphones and remember soloist who not only played over those brass lines but who could fill an entire stadium no matter where your seats were. Don’t know if it was because of the player, the instrument or both, but I remember. -

I don’t believe he was ragging. Crowns percussion ensemble is playing very well but there is little environmental or physical demands that equals that of BD, SCV or Blooo. It’s well written, but certainly not the same depth of writing as three or four other lines including Cadets. I’m a little tired of the brass acrobatics Crown continues to insert into their shows. Compared to Crown brass lines of the past, they’re not in my top five Crown brass performances Jeff’s Visual design may fit Crown but it’s certainly not one of his best designs. Share with me - where do you believe it rates in his all-time visual designs? I won’t even comment on the prop choices they have made IMO Crown has been receiving brass and visual scores the last two seasons based more on past reputation and staff personalities then actual performance quality. Considering the many wonderful Crown productions I’ve witnessed and love, this years production wouldn’t make my top 10 Crown list. And no I’m not hating or ragging on Crown just saying it’s not meeting my expectations of them.

And I was thinking that the show was about the activity nearing the end of all things many believe to be drum corps. A terrifying, great beast would appear. We’re warned of his mark he has left on the activity. Many are prophesying the demise of drum corps as we once knew it because of him, his proposals for instrumentation, electronics and amplification. Silly costumes, brass acrobatics instead of melody, singers and large infamous props that are never utilized during a performance and take up space that was once used for marching. The great question to be answered? Will GH be removed from the DCI HOF putting an end to the beast.
