I know, but it wasn’t the same guy. -

Agreed, but back flip guy isn’t back. -
No, he was on top of the mountain and chased the $$$. BD was second last season, something they disdain. Get used to it! It was Michael Gaines that made SCV into the BD Nightmare. The lead horse has now got another viewpoint...and the scenery won’t change.

And there is much rejoicing.

Not entirely true. In the staging of the ballad, you had the mello's going back and forth from left to right. Go back to that point in a yew toob video and look at the field coverage. One soloist on the 20 yd line side 2, the other on the 20 yd line side 1 and the fill was fairly comprehensive and lots of guard everywhere. They did use the field between the 35's as more of a stage front and center, but it fit with what they were doing. As far as field coverage, they just moved so fast...few noticed how they expanded and contracted. Just my thoughts.

Very true words. SCV A-Corp was my son's first foray into DCI after coming from a very successful HS band program. The first 2-3 days, he called and said "I think I made a mistake. I feel like I don't belong here." But he's resilient and powered thru and once he had the trust of his corp mates and the staff...he was loving it. He's already hinted at doing it again in 2019. Of course being a world champ helps that adrenaline level.

Agreed. There seemed to be a bit of audience confusion once the painting was complete, and then the appearance of the mute trumpeter in the window cut-out for the final soft ending.

SCV's show was an epic musical fail.
DCIDADDIO replied to SWriverstone's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I would characterize this as "click-bait" There is the Bold title, and "epic fail" descriptor. There is a list of accolades that qualifies his musical knowledge. All of it is a little bombastic when it just comes down to a simple opinion, and we know what they say about those...don't we? -

no...no you shant. -
The gymnast did a highspeed pass down the hornline, the ariel on the prop, some moves in the cage on the right, and was the feature right middle prop at the end of the Gents and jawns dance.

Well there was some definite funk and I'm thinking it was 4 loads in total. Wasn't keen on tossing Nike/Adidas shirts etc even though they were funky. Did a lil pre-treatment soak in Snuggle fab softener for about 15 min, then a wash w/ some "fresh air packets" and viola! Now the white appearing socks that came back gray...those were beyond help after having shuffled across many gym floors etc.

2019 Predictions!
DCIDADDIO replied to Cadevilina Crown's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
True words. Turns out the guy on SCV is a former USA Jr. Olympic National Gymnast and a World Champion cheerleader. He was interviewed at the Atlanta SE Regional, and they said he had a lot of knives in his arsenal. -
2019 Predictions!
DCIDADDIO replied to Cadevilina Crown's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Typically, the corp member(s)...lets just say for example the teeter-totter CG's in Crown, signed a letter of declaration that they were responsible and could perform the stunt to their level of skill and safety. That was then signed off on by the board of directors. I would assume when it comes to unconventional props and the potential for injury, this would be a standard practice. Regardless, doing a stationary back-flip on a platform w/ wheels and no padding while 8ft off the ground (a la SCV)...not for the faint of heart. So a tip of the cap to all those young men and women who do those things for the GE they garner and the crowd reactions they receive. -

Well the first step is admitting you have a problem. Hope to see you at the Annual meeting in Indy about this time next year. -

That Blue Stars guard is so under-rated. Ask any other guard crew who does the most and makes it look easy...they'll say BAC and Blue Stars. -

After that Zingali announcement, their lil group was like a mosh-pit of intertwined hugging. They were so freaking happy and it was fun to watch. -

It was so much fun! Tons of Alumni there as well. But the best part was walking back into the JW Marriott at 2:00 am...the roar was deafening. They were so hungry for a win after 19 yrs and it was a really special moment to share it with all of them. -
I can imagine. There were several of the cadets at the end of season Brunch that had the same thought. You could see their faces light up when Directors asked about who might move to A corp.

And BD was scary close to getting beat by Bloo as well. The BD run on Saturday was much better than Friday. I know they tried to move past the window issue, but there was a soloist issue as well as a tear from a reverb. They were back on their game Saturday though but still only about .4-.5 from Bloo I think, which was uncharacteristic.
