  1. A couple of DCI names in that show. Plymouth's director was David McGrath (now program coordinator for Cavies); visual caption head Mike Tarr (now BAC); arranger Don Hill (fmr Bluecoats, Cadets, PR); drill Mitch Rogers (fmr Bluecoats, Cavies); visual designer, guard Alan Spaeth (fmr PR).
  2. They move. But they don't play and move. Every show, it's the same gimmick: a mic'd trumpet playing Arban runs blasted over front field speakers, while the corps fills in the field at 180 bpm. Looks cool. Almost convinces you that they're attempting simultaneous marching and playing. But they're not. At least, not at the level of Crown, or Bloo, or heck, even BAC this year.
  3. I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal. People know me. I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.
  4. The design staff let them down. Hope they build on this year's technical successes, give Kevin literally all the money, and bring back a throw-down show next year.
  5. The most innovative part is when they pick up their horns, and then peel your face off for 10 minutes. That’s a really cool moment.
  6. Couchmen Everyone else is playing for second
  7. That's incredible and very impressive. DCI is the best. Good luck, Mandarins!
  8. All 15 people who saw it live must have been really offended. Hope Flo's post-comp viewership rebounds.
  9. I made this connection in a 7/2 post before they put up the video: http://www.drumcorpsplanet.com/forums/index.php?/topic/167120-the-cavaliers-2018-70-years-of-excellence/&do=findComment&comment=3731574. Visually, I thought it was really neat. And if they stuck with that dark theme to the end - but added velocity to the closer, it'd work. Where this show fails is with the clunker of the "tarp reveal" and campy sing-a-long. The more they've added to it, the worse their GE scores have gotten compared to Crown/BAC. Again, it's an AWESOME show the first 3/4. That last section, though...needs work.
  10. Top secret Mello Sustain. This time, it's the whole show.
  11. Didn't you predict two weeks ago the Cavaliers would be ahead of Crown and BD heading into Indianapolis? Guessing you're not exactly impartial here... All the bandos on here giving out participation medals: sure, it's great they're in the top 6/7. Kudos to them. But this is a competitive activity. Otherwise, why keep score? I loved the early 00's-era Cavaliers. No reason they can't return to that level of excellence. Their design staff should give them a chance.
