This year, kids here in SE Georgia went back to school August 2nd. So ridiculous.

Blue Stars was allowing members to buy this year’s uniform if they wanted. That is definitely a one-and-done.

As mentioned, Open Class provides a wonderful arena to provide musical and visual educational opportunities. But, allowing corps that repeatedly place well below the majority of the Open Class corps at prelims to continue as WC, forces show promoters to pay WC pay scale to a lower-end OC corps. Kind of like paying for the Boston Symphony when you get the Goochland String Choir.

DCI needs a rule passed that World Class membership must be earned/retained by a top 25 finish at least every three years or so. Something to drive them to keep the quality up.

I have been in the activity since 1965 and I can truly say that, IMHO, this has been drum corps greatest year, top to bottom. Best top 12 I have ever seen, best Open Class finalists, etc. Absolutely amazing talent today.

I am fine with Indy. As others have mentioned, almost all of my time I have spent there during finals week has been dedicated to something related to the corps - shows, rehearsals, alumni meet-and-greets, etc. So I do not care about any “touristy” stuff. My time to vacation and be a tourist is spent on cruises, trips to Vegas, etc. Finsls week is for drum corps.

I really like having the annual subscription. I watched a bunch of BOA, WGI, and all of the DCI shows I did not attend in person in the past year. Per show cost is ridiculously low when compared to PPV prices of things like MMA and boxing.
