  1. Cool that the Cavies brought out the marching keyboards. Now strap on a timp and we can talk. Enjoyed the show, but too much synth for my liking... posted from the DrumScorps app
  2. More memorable show than PR, but I’m still bothered when a musical marching group spends so much of their time not playing and not marching... posted from the DrumScorps app
  3. I know lots of folks are high on this Mandarins show, but it takes ‘em so long to get moving... posted from the DrumScorps app
  4. Reading the final few pages of comments from the semi’s, and I need to ask what appears to be a stupid question. I’ve never been much of a captions geek (a name I use to honor those more interested in nitty-gritty numbers than I), so I guess I never realized this. Are the caption award scores based on a corps’ total points in the captions over all three shows in Indy? If so, has that system been used all along? posted from the DrumScorps app
  5. I watched on the high camera angle all night (to give the Flo director one more run to figure out what to show tomorrow). I noticed several corps who did most of their marching when the percussion or synths or singers were performing, but not when the brass was playing (I realize that’s normal). Some groups made up for it by marching & playing more at other times of their show, but too many camped the brass any time the music got challenging. posted from the DrumScorps app
  6. Devils : the out of the gate fanfare is the brightest sound of the night - like they all just had a helping of sugar or something. Soloists sounded like they had some problems, and the “Laura” fanfare toward the end sounded dirty. Won’t catch SCV that way (if that’s even possible). I have confidence it’ll be cleaner tomorrow. posted from the DrumScorps app
  7. I’m old school, so I’m not a fan of vocals, technology, and amplification (although I’m willing to accept grounding concert percussion in the pit), but I do appreciate great drill well marched. Which means I‘m amazed with what Garfi... I mean the Cadets just pulled off. GREAT JOB!! posted from the DrumScorps app
  8. Didn’t do great at the ID listening tests in college, but correctly identified “Petrushka” because of a Stravinsky show they did in the 70’s... posted from the DrumScorps app
  9. Phantom seemed to have some articulation issues in the first third of their show. Doubt it’ll keep ‘em out of the 12, but w/ as well as Mandarins & Bones played, they certainly opened the door for downward movement... posted from the DrumScorps app
  10. Plus, they don’t march in tempo... posted from the DrumScorps app
  11. Really loved the flow (no pun, but I enjoyed the others) of the Xmen’s drill. Enjoyed both programs, but if I had to pick one of the two shows to watch again, I’d have to go w/ Bones over SOA. posted from the DrumScorps app
