  1. Good East, I can feel your anger. Let the hate flow through you.
  2. It takes a very special person to make the impact he did in the music and education world. Being an educator is a special calling in life. The great ones impact others and make the world a little better place to live in. I am deeply saddened the world has lost a great one.
  3. He just got done with another year of working with BD again. 😉 Seems to be well liked by the members.
  4. Great year and no particular order here. 1. Cadets - This activity needs the Cadets. Elements and feel of design from the past made this show feel like a coming home party for the corps. Shout out to the great precussion section that was right up there with the best. 2. Crown - They have not been in my top 5 in a long time. Something about those arrangements this year that just hit in all the right spots. To allow that ballad to breathe with the spacing and silence was breathtaking. Their semis performance will go down as one of the best lines I've ever heard on the field. The placement though was absolutely accurate based on the two corps above them. A little more cutting edge and innovative show and they will have found the missing piece needed. 3. Bluecoats - Design alone gets this corps in my top 5. Like Crown, they just about have all the intricacies and elements in place to reach the top. I was so impressed with their guard this year. Clean lines and technique were just beautiful to see in lieu of everyone else throwing in the whole kitchen sink of impressive work that their amazing guards were doing. Good year for guards. Their color palettes are always amazing. 4. Cavies - I'm sure they are not pleased with their placement but this show was so good. My son and I were actually humming some of those Saucedo arrangements over these last weeks. It was cool to pick out all the snippets of shows from the past and makes you realize just how special those shows were. That percussion line not only played well but had that visual cleanliness that made it both an audio and visual feast to behold. 5. Naughty Devils - Well deserved and earned championship. It's interesting watching audinces watch BD perform. Other corps' shows they will cheer for a great moment in acheivement. For BD, everyone just takes it all in like watching an actual show on stage. It's difficult to describe but the sum of a BD show isn't going to leave everyone saying that was my favorite show for the night. It instead continues to take this activity down paths that I can only feel are teetering to that of a prefessional staged show. It respects the intelligence and sophistication of the viewer and rarely panders to get appluase for applause sake. The performers know and understand how to interpret their show like no other corps teaches its members. That alone is one of the most rewarding experiences being a BD member.
  5. I upgraded my seats and have two prelim tickets available for tomorrow’s show. Section 239, Row 9, Seats 1 & 2. Will sell the pair for $150 total. PM if interested.
  6. Sent you a DM. Interested in semis.
  7. Surprising to see this topic still going. I was actually in Indy this weekend for a conference my wife was attending. We were able to score last minute tix to the Colts-Eagles game. Stadium was full but talk about proficiency. All gates seemed to be open, and you could even get in from the convention center, under the road. It took us less than 3 minutes to get in. Even crowd movement in the concourses was as efficient with a full stadium of about 67,000 people. As all the vendors were open, you did not have to wait long at all for food, drinks and snacks. It was an enjoyable experience for sure. I feel this is more a DCI thing, skimping on proper planning to have enough workers, entrances and vendors open. Maybe Lucas Oil does not see it as a priority in terms of staffing but for about 1/3 the size of a normal game, drum corps fans definitely get shortchanged with the amount of help that was noticeable and available this past Sunday.
  8. It’s good to see some new staff in the game from several corps. It will be interesting to see who thrives and becomes the next big instructors. I’d love for someone to give Travis Peterman another shot because he was doing good stuff for Crown. I’m actually excited to see what the new staff bring to Crown. Really happy with who they chose for their new corps director.
  9. Tom and Jerry will be watching. RIP Legend.
  10. This whole Cadets conversation about the Aungst and Larrivee families and their involvement in the organization is interesting. As I know nothing about the inner workings of the Cadets, except for friends or acquaintances involved, I wish them well. Not sure how BD with the involvement of the Odello’s, Meehan’s and others made it work. Or Blue Stars with the Furlano’s. And I can go on and on with other corps. Perhaps these corps just handle the family tree side of things better. Hope all gets better with time.
  11. I thought the whole transparency and responses were very professional. Of course he's disappointed but it was good to see Regiment admin, staff and members acknowledge and thank him.
  12. I took a clear bag all week and don't regret it one bit. I threw our own water/soda and snacks in there. Each day the bag checkers shrugged and could care less. They were more interested in my portable phone charger. Maybe I was just lucky this week but the gate people were very friendly. It actually proved to be a smart move as the lines for concession were pretty darn long and of course to avoid those Oil Can prices. It's always been pretty smooth there. I've taken Subway footlongs and other fast food in the past. A couple of years, I've even brought my own beer when they allowed backpacks.
  13. He's with BD now and seems to be enjoying it there.
  14. Me too. I just go with the flow now and get told via video I don’t get today’s activity. If it wasn’t for the increased cost of flights and food, I probably would’ve spent less than any other year. I bought less souvies and bought tickets last minute. Just in a weird place right now with my love of the activity, the people involved and even the fan banter online. I still enjoy it though for the kids and their love of performance. I go to support them.
  15. Use to be, unsure about today. Saw in the elevator this weekend at least that many different types of badges stadium staff were supposed to be aware of. I use to get some of those bad boys over the years, including all access badges. Stadium staff would actually check to let you go in certain areas such as the press box or field level. Wrong badge and they would turn you away.
  16. It seems like everyone and their mother had badges this year. No one cared to look at what privileges the tiers of badges had and people were roaming freely as they pleased. Some took advantage of it. They need to find some other way to separate staff from the VIPs, HOF and top tier staff like the designers /directors. The color codes were too hard to distinguish as there were 5-6 tiers of badges. That or educate the staff of these corps about etiquette. I kicked some out of our seats on finals but at least they were apologetic and nicely complied.
  17. Heh, don’t matter on the 3-peat. Even if a certain corps went on a 10-year winning streak, they would only tie BD with the most titles in 2032. We know that won’t happen so we are looking at BD having the most DCI titles through at least the the 2040’s. By then there will be no more activity because DCI always seems to be dying according to some.
  18. Was an interesting year. In the middle 200 and 300 sections, no one was there enforcing the gates. There were a couple at the main entry points but that was it. It was a free for all and definitely looked under-staffed. Indy itself was bad too. Hostesses were cleaning tables and doing other duties. Restaurants not full but some with pretty long wait times due to lack of wait staff. We live in different times now and my problems and getting upset are little compared to others. I will plan better and hope DCI will too.
