  1. Try using PACER to see if there is anything to be found.
  2. cannot locate it this year - please assist - and thank you
  3. Which statement is completely ironic considering how you look back on the days of old when senior corps didn't have any of those young whippersnappers in it that came along and ruined all the fun of the activity.....AND how your thought of moving DCA finals up a month would remove those same young whippersnappers from the DCA ranks...
  4. I think one of the biggest obstacles to having DCA'S as part of the DCI Championships is the idea of losing 4 weeks of shows. This year it would have been been held on July 27th & 28th if held on that Monday & Tuesday.
  5. I disagree with your theory that it is the fault of the Bucs winning so many times because quite frankly every other group has become more competitive because of the Bucs. It isn't their fault they are doing it better than the rest are. The shows that won 10-15 years ago would never come in the Top 5 now. Your theory is like saying people stopped going to baseball games because The Yankees have 27 rings. Nope. That isn't the answer Lee. It sounds great to drag it out and repeat it as the reason, but it is far from the solution to the problem.
  6. This is something that I do not grasp. A way to involve them, yes. To leave it to them as the go to people? Why??!!?? But that may be the shining example of the disconnect that is happening. Without revamping the entire thing from top to bottom DCA will fall out of any sort of actual relevance. If the numbers given have any type of truth to them, they have lost more than half their audience in less than 10 years. They need to find out (very quickly) as to why, and even more quickly take major steps to fix the problems. While I do think a part of it is location, that cannot be the only answer. I am not sure the powers that be are ready to hear what some of the possible reasons are though.
  7. I do think some of this can be done at reasonable costs. Advertising on mass transit, most likely not. While I am not exactly sure exactly what it takes in upstate NY, over at NJT it is not only expensive, but also very difficult. I realize the greater Rochester area is a much smaller zone by comparison, but I think you would have to still manage to have an 'in' with the company to even try to do so without breaking the budget.
  8. was asked by a friend why the price changed at checkout. told her i had no idea.
  9. I can see people frothing at the mouth at the very idea of it happening. And while i don't know if it could happen this year, as in they take it all, I do see their show having the potential to take out some veteran competitors . And kudos for having revamped your guard program into something spectacular this season.
  10. As a Clifton resident, the leftovers from the locals who attended the 4th of July fireworks, followed by the official City Picnic in the park next to the stadium, created more of a mess and no one saw that someone attempted to lay the blame on the Cadets hosting their show the same time either. That said, I have never understood why we do not police ourselves better at shows. Why people find tossing a garbage bag into the car along with the cooler, chairs and whatever else isn't difficult. It takes up the least amount of space compared to the rest. It is the type of thing that will come back to haunt a host if it hasn't already.
  11. Considering that the show field is at the location of Middle School, not the High School and is essentially like Kennedy Stadium, a distinct and different location than just a school facility, I don't see how one could connect the show to the firing of the band director in any way, other than to try and create drama.
  12. I didn't mean DCp on FB, I meant all across FB. Corps' have their own pages/group pages (multiple ones, ones dedicated to each section). DCA has a page, there is a DCA group, there are countless pages dedicated to drum corps. Navigation is easier. Posting is easier.Participation is up over there but down over here.
  13. Often because you have hit a point in adulthood that the trivial crap just doesn't matter anymore. Real life has a way of beating you down to a point where you circle the wagons in because you have realized you can't make everyone happy all of the time, BUT if you can manage to do things that make you and the ones closest to you happy, that is all that matters.
  14. Here's another response and probably one that will annoy people. Some of us just started to not really care anymore. The product is amazing, there is no mistake in my mind about that. But yet constantly hearing the whining about the good old days and how it is now just band and how it is all dancing and prancing and Broadway and costumes, and now those mean DCI people went and ruined DCA too ~ yeah whatever. Tell someone that you hope DCA moves to a more family friendly location for finals because you want to do more than just see a drum corps show and you aren't a true fan anymore, because living, breathing, eating and talking drum corps is what it should be all about and if you don't like it, too bad. For what corps have left, there are new ones, but they don't seem to use DCp to talk about themselves the way others did. The ability to reach a greater audience is on FB and Twitter. DCp at the time was a great reprieve from RAMD but it too is the old dino in the crowd now.
  15. The ease of using FB over DCP is a very simple answer. Posting pictures - easier. Always logged in on phone - easier. I don't know if DCP has an app for smartphones phone yet, but FB has had one for how long? Add to it the ability to choose what you want to see without having to weed through what you don't. It has 0 to do with amps or synths or uniforms.
  16. If I get Finals it will be because we are having bad weather on Sunday/
  17. Less posters here on DCP these days as well, though I saw a lot of pictures on FB. It's a sign of the times. Count into the equation no free wi-fi, the annoyance to others around you, the criticism because 'you cut out that section' or 'you missed what? how could you' in pictures or just by saying I didn't like so and so, or that corps was outstanding, and while DCP is off to the races, no one wants to have people jumping down their throats.
  18. I can't recall if we used it or not. I swear it was the laptop and HDMI to the tv last year. And we have Chromecast. DUH.....
