DCI World Championships Semifinals - 8/1215
CSGreen replied to Dpsouthern81's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
There is no difference in shows between Open and World.. Same sheets, same time limits. OC corps might choose the lesser times of the spectrum because it benefits them.. if they want to compete at a World Class level, then they up the difficulty, length of show, etc, etc to compete.. but if you can't clean, it doesn't matter if you are playing a symphony or a childhood nursery rhyme as your show. Any corps (or band, or guard, etc) that designs a show that maximizes the talent, abilities, and potential of their membership finds success. Those who miscalculate any of those items, finds the opposite to varying degrees. You can either get ###### off that an Open Class beats you, or you can go back to my previous statement and adjust. (Something Cascades did VERY well with TURN a few years ago, and something I think Pioneer is attempting to do with their Joan of Arc show this year) *end rant* -

I received my T shirt from my donation before, so hoping that means the project is still on track, even if the winterguard ended up not being the firestarter they had thought

Please help out a Drum Corps Alum
CSGreen replied to CSGreen's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Thanks! We are currently in 3rd, and only the top 2 win the grant. We do have a WGI Winds group at the school, and the alumni group is starting one as well that will be local this year (NTCA/WGI Regional) http://www.dallasnews.com/news/community-news/best-southwest/headlines/20151023-what-would-100k-get-for-the-adamson-high-band.ece -
Not sure where to post this, but we could really use the support of the Drum Corps Community on this one: Adamson HS Band is up for 2 Grants, one for $2,500 and one for $100,000! Voting is live! Please vote once a day everyday in October! $100,000 would change my student's worlds! It would finally put enough instruments into the hands of ALL my students, and update some very poor instruments into quality! Please share this email and the links inside with everyone you've ever met! 😊 Encourage them to vote daily in October, so everyone get 31 votes! There are 15 finalists and 6 receive the grant. I am the only finalist from Dallas, there are two from Houston, and the rest are all over the country. We are the only High School Band on the list! Christopher Green W.H. San Antonio (slightly long) Review
CSGreen replied to MikeN's topic in DCI (All) Corps Show & Event Reviews
Love this review. Download Fly to Paradise and you'll see just how authentic that operatic voice in Crossmen is :) You'll probably appreciate them more in that process. -
DCI video products unavailable
CSGreen replied to Beckham's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I would love to see all DCI recordings and videos just become individual downloads on iTunes. Maybe the shows that have more expensive rights are more expensive downloads? There doesn't seem to be an easy answer, but I really hope that we don't lose the right to own recordings of new drum corps.. love the live broadcasts and theater, and while I don't rewatch shows, I relisten to them a great deal. -
DCI Live! 2015 Status and Assistance
CSGreen replied to Clutchtow's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
dci.org app was the only way I could watch this on my TV. Desktop/laptop is great, but I want it on the surround sound and big screen. once the chat guy told me the app was on iTunes, I downloaded it and stopped cursing DCI's name :) -

Really sad to read this today. I am sure it was a difficult decision. Really enjoyed seeing the corps several times over the years!
