  1. I, personally< would like DCI to put the same amount of effort into OC corps as they do with WC corps. The OC corps work just as hard!
  2. Here's something else to consider. Brass manufacturers won't make a lot of money making G horns due to the small amount of corps today. They can make more money by making Bb...more high school and college bands by far!
  3. I left DCP FB. People to high and mighty there!
  4. People still can't accept this change that happened along time ago? I mean, I accepted that the band Chicago only has three original members in it. The still play better music today much like drum corps is better today than yesterday!
  5. I just remember them having a small horn line and drum line that year but the quality was so great!
  6. Were Charioteers the smallest corps to make top 25 at DCI Championships in 1972?
  7. US Open (Marion, OH)? American-International Open (Butler, PA)? or World Open (Lynn, MA)? WHY?
  8. If ONE member gets COVID 19 it has to shut the entire corps down PERIOD!!! Look at it financially, is it worth going out on the road? Imagine this happens to a few corps and maybe that corps can't last financially and has to disband. Then what happens to the activity?
  9. Can't throw a Covid 19 positive member on an airplane to send home! So then what do you do?
  10. I just went back and saw they were beat by Bon Bons!
  11. I looked at the list of 1972 U.S. Open corps and only ONE corps exists today and that corps changed its name and location. The Garfield Cadets are the only corps still in existence as the other 65 corps are no longer with us! Same in 1973 except the Phantom Regiment are the only corps around. The other 74 are gone! 1976 DCI ....... 34 Corps competed in Class A and All Girl and today NONE exist! 47 corps competed in Open Class and only 10 exist today!
  12. In 1972 there were 39 corps competing at the first DCI World Championships today only 7 are still in existence!

  14. If you can do it "Full Bore," than don't do it at all! I love the activity but if it's not judged or abbreviated season...why do it? Waste of money when you can spend the year building for 2022!
  15. As Covid 19 ruined 2020 and is making 2021 different, is there an opportunity for the activity to go back to it's roots...or at least to the 1970's? Now younger fans/members don't know what the summer was like for many corps in the 1970's. Weekends were drum corps and two days a week were rehearsal time. Yes there were ton's of corps and in NY State alone there could be 3 or 4 shows, not including the two or 3 senior shows. A corps could compete in the US Open, American-International Open, NT Open, World Open, Key To The Sea as well as DCI East, DCI Canada, DCI North, DCI Midwest, DCI West. Lets also add Danny Thomas Invitational, Shriner's, Canadian Open, etc. Today, it's only about DCI! DC East and DC Midwest are gone! The smaller corps either had to get bigger and better or go away. Now today, how many corps that were active in 2019 will be active in 2021? 2022? Did DCI leave the dock and keep the smaller corps off the ship? I know they gave them there own DCI Championship at another location but was that fair? It seems the top 12-15 are the only corps that anyone wants to march with and forget the smaller corps. Discuss
  16. It only matters what we think. Also, I would like to have my groups music performance assessment be a part of my evaluation. This year though.....I and my groups will not participate.
  17. Exited from DCP FB. Nasty people there! BTW........ Band and Choral directors school districts may use their music performance assessments as an evaluation tool. If your group gets a Superior, then the director adds to their evaluation. Not all do that though.
  18. Many choral directors chose to not do Music Performance Assessment this year because there was NO rating. Students agreed that comments only did nothing for them....or teachers.
