  1. awesome. just awesome. i agree. now where's the beer? i had a few with plenty of other CV members this year (chris, marvin, tom, etc etc), but not with MJH! we just chatted at the gate before CV went out and rocked finals and then again later on. MCL 'killed' at prelims, i loved CV's show, so bring on the beer! :mmm:
  2. wow, so much for being able to ask a question anymore. the OP was: "Quick question...I noticed a couple corps had people shooting "smoke" from fire extinguishers during their performances at finals. Does DCA allow special effects by non-performing members?" so, what is the big deal? way to get all RAMD on the OP for asking a simple question. :ramd: the answer is: yes, dca allows it. and both ES and cru used it to nice effect this year. cheers! :mmm:
  3. check out corpsreps.com instead. thanks chris maher! reed's rocking the right-hand 12 in the snare pic! also one of you lying down on the job!!! :P :mmm:
  4. thanks so much!!! awesome pics of MCL. plenty of pics in there of my wife, too! she'll be happy about that! cheers!
  5. if you re-read what i wrote above, you'll realize i was supporting my home town of buffalo. cheer for the titans? HA! we buffalonians hold sports grudges for life! we hate the miami dolphins, hate the dallas cowboys, hate the tennessee titans, hate the dallas stars, hate the ottawa senators, hate the philadelphia flyers (1st stanley cup loss), should i go on? :mmm: yeah, i watched that game too. not from the stands though. classic - you don't even have to mention what game it was, bills fans know that score.
  6. stirring the pot back at ya: how many super bowls have the titans been to? any of them consecutive like the bills' 4-peat? how many super bowls have the titans won? yeah. ^0^ :mmm:
  7. stewie, when you're from buffalo, you are unable to let ANYTHING go that deals with the bills or sabres. ask anyone from WNY about: "wide right", "no goal", or the aforementioned "forward lateral" - still tearing our collective hearts out to this date over those three. 'let it go' - HA! :P btw: is this thread still going on about cru v kilts v mcl? didn't i say it was funny to me and offer beer at i&e PAGES ago? :mmm: who cares what a bunch of people on the internet think???? it's all about what each corps does during their time on the field on saturday. best of luck to everyone and safe travels.
  8. this thread is funny. :D best of luck to all DCA corps. safe travels and solid rehearsals. come find me and we'll have some beer at I&E - i'm the tan, bald guy in the MCL jacket!!! looking forward to getting home to WNY: it'll be better than this southern (chattanooga) heat - 21 straight days of 95+ temps and 8 out of the last 10 over 100. oh yeah, about that 10th place... :mmm:
  9. safe travels to everyone. hope the AC holds out for GCS this time around. see you all tomorrow in rockmart. :mmm:
  10. oh, sorry, i thought you were referring to the 103 degree heat that MCL rehearsed in last sunday in lebanon, tn. sorry. B) :mmm:
  11. fran, we all missed you two in nashville this weekend, but i'm glad to hear that there is progress. my wife and i are both therapists and deal with cases like this a lot. it sounds like she is starting to reach therapy 'landmarks' that show very good potential for recovery. if i can be of any help: mdudek@bellsouth.net best wishes. -matt
  12. thanks for the kind words about the show, stacy. we're having a lot of fun with it. definitely the best production MCL has ever put on the field. a fairly complete show (more to add) that tells a story visually and musically, yet ties it all together for an enjoyable theme. i'm proud of it and there's more to come. while i was quite busy throughout the day, i'll throw in a few comments of my own... DCK - heard you guys throughout the day and it sounded good. a challenging book for a first year group and handled admirably. ALLIANCE - from what i heard/saw of their rehearsal, alliance sounded/looked good. granted they were on the hill (upper left of stacy's picture above) and i was on the podium down in the stadium, but i was impressed none the less. congrats and i hope i can see the show during the atlanta weekend. GCS - the story of the weekend. i was IMMENSELY impressed with them. a very FUN and very well played musical book. i saw the last half of their VERY short rehearsal (due to no AC on the bus for 15+ hours) and do see a need for visual changes to boost their score. but musically this group has made great strides from seasons past. what a fun book. i know our guard was sitting in the stands during their runthrough at the stadium and we were all singing along. CONGRATS TO GCS! CV - what else to say? i LOVE their show. a blast for the fans and the performers. they handle the musical charts extremely well and the crowd eats it up. i didn't see their performance so i cannot really comment on the visual side of things this weekend. looking forward to seeing it in 2 weeks in rockmart. oh yeah, they tore up the parking lot!!!!! this corps knows how to perform and they really let it hang out for the crowd. thanks CV! another thank you to corpsvets for sitting in the back stands for MCL's performance and cheering us on. it was a great feeling to look beyond the corps i was conducting and see you all, in uniform, in the back stands cheering for us. truly classy and much appreciated. i'll let a hornline member comment on how it felt to have you all cheering them on during their backfield warmup... thanks again! see you all soon. travel safely. :mmm:
  13. hi brad! thanks for the kind words. i took a quick look for you as i passed your vis warm-up (while searching for our drumline on the school campus) and didn't see you. hope to catch up with you again this year. it was quite odd that we sat just a few rows apart in the bleachers at finals last season after having not seen each other for years. best of luck for the rest of the season! i didn't see your show, but what i heard from the parking lot while we waited to go down to the gate sounded really nice. congrats to cru. any patriots alumni/staff on board there? thanks again to SS for the great weekend. congrats to all the corps. see you all down the road... :mmm:
  14. thanks for the compliments (and to SunContra1 as well). still adding a LOT every rehearsal. yeah, the scores were read REALLY quickly. i was still commenting about the drum majors not being called 'front and center' and all of a sudden i heard "music city legend" and had to come to attention and salute. it seemed like a few seconds later the cru dm's were heading over for hand shakes. it all went by way too fast. barely got to say 'hi' to any of the other drum majors. sorry about that gang. HOT?!?!?! that weather was beautiful! it was downright pleasant compared to TN temps...and this is coming from a native western new yorker! b**bs see you all soon...have safe travels and fun performances until then... :mmm:
