The Academy 2016 - The Drum Corpse Bride
cajal replied to DrumManTx's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
My wife wears her "feed the birds" shirt from last year all the time and we both loved last year's show. After watching their show last night, I'm sure another shirt purchase at Allentown is going to happen -
I'm no big Cadets fan, but I think they're solidly in the top 5 based on brass and drums alone. Their statue thing has potential, and it's not necessarily a bad thing that they haven't come out that "smoking" so far score-wise compared to some other corps. Their musical choices are fantastic, let's see where the visual/story goes. Just observations from video, I'll hear/see the comparison with the Bluecoats on Tuesday at Gateway.

It went away during the commercial, but now it's back... hopefully it goes away. Thanks for the replies! -

Anyone else getting some low-end hum on the broadcast? -

A Modest Proposal, Part 1: Carolina Crown Wins in 2015

At least the OP is consistent with who DOESN'T win the contest or high percussion award. Kudos. Really. -
Juicy Rumors - Know One or Start One - True or False
cajal replied to njthundrrd's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
In 2016 the fans on DCP will prove that the Blue Devils have not deserved even one championship they have received in the last two decades. The combination of no drill, no music, no marching, bad judging panels, non-averaged finals week scores, being exposed to more full judging panels, underage marchers, too many marchers and UFO assistance will all be proved absolutely true. In a related rumor, the fans dancing with glee at the removal of said BD championships will kill each other fighting over who SHOULD have won in all of those years. -
Got back today, what an incredible show to see live! There were very few duds that I saw, even in quarters. BD, you had your best show of the year (That I saw live/on vids) on Saturday night. A come-from-behind win for the Blue Crew was something different than the MO for the last decade and a half. A well deserved championship, and I would've been happy if Crown had won as well... or even the Bluecoats, who almost caught Crown at the end. Congrats on #17 guys and gals.

OFFICIAL DCI FINALS THREAD

As some have said in other threads, always blame the Russian judge if you don't agree with the outcome. You're never wrong that way, and your opinion is totally justified -
Madison has a great show this year, they definitely seem to have their "swagger" back.
-
Very few will dwell on the numbers a week from now, we'll all be looking towards next year. The ones that complain for the next three months are the ones to avoid.
-
For some, the content is irrelevant - and the scores mean everything. Fans have the right to leave when they want to, but I think many are missing out on some great stuff. This post applies to all corps of course, not just BD. "If my team loses to crap like that, I can't stand it". You see lots of stuff like that on DCP.

Why not buy a tshirt from a different corps today?
cajal replied to Corps_Efan's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I totally agree. Most corps have a fuel fund or "general" fund at their souvie trailer. If you have the means, drop a couple of bucks (or even change) into that jar. -
I do the same, I just wear a BD shirt most of the time. I think that people at the actual shows have become far more tolerant, the crowd isn't like DCP at all.

Through the years I've had that happen to me in Allentown, so it's not unheard of. This is ancient history though, in the 80s and 90s.

OFFICIAL DCI FINALS THREAD
cajal replied to ZachDrumCorps's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I'm sure that most of the members of this site view DCI finals day as a holiday of sorts. I have thought of it that way since around 1982, and through many life changes DCI finals has remained a constant. The corps and rules have changed somewhat, but it's still a party of sorts. This will be the first time I've attended finals since 1995, and I was shocked at the quality of the corps in quarters and semis in Indy. I'm not a fan of the dome, but at least it's air conditioned I'm glad the activity is still around, even though I don't like some of the elements in the shows. There's a lot more that I like than dislike, and that's a win for me. -
Heh.... If it doesn't happen and they still sound great, I'm okay with that.
-
Heh! That's awesome.

Let's go Mountaineers! Hail to Pitt! (ok, odd combination. I'm a professor at one and alum of the other lol) Ok, college football allegiances taken care of, moving on.... -

Hopefully every corps has their best show of the year. I selfishly decree that this must be the case for my Blu-Ray discs, so all corps take note! -
I agree, and I don't think it would be a "travesty" either way. Good luck to both.
-
I think they should divide GE music and GE visual again. You can tell from the panels which is which, sort of - but going back to that separation might cause less confusion.

Hoping hoping hoping for a tie
cajal replied to Super Don-O's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I think that two ties would do this season justice, one for first and one for third. Who knows which corps would occupy those spots, but the top four all deserve to medal. I'd actually prefer a three-way tie for third, as I love SCV's show this year as well. Someone hack into the CompetitionSuite site and make it so!
