  1. All; Now that we have another DCA World Championship in the history book, would like to get comments GOOD or BAD about the weekend. DCA is making every effort to make the WHOLE weekend as enjoyable and smooth as possible. We made many changes based on last year comments. Post to me privately if you would prefer, or reply to this post to let your comments seen publicly, either way, your comments will be shared with the DCA Officials. William Aldrich/Thorpe
  2. All; I am closing this thread as no new suggestions are forthcoming. I have recorded all of the messages (well most of them). And will develop a proposal document to present to DCA management. There is no guarantee that they will act on ALL of the comments and suggestions, but I believe they want everyone to have a enjoyable experience and they will try and find resolution on the more pressing issues that effect the largest number of people. I want to thank eveyone who took the time to post their comments and suggestions. I greatly appreciate the effort. My only concern here is the give you a voice to the DCA management so they can understand your concerns and your suggestions to make the DCA Championship the best every year. Yours in corps espirit! William Aldrich/Thorpe
  3. Unfortunately, changing the championship site is not in the cards. We will be at the stadium through 2005. But we can work harder to make the weekend enjoyable and a little less stressful for both performers and spectators. As I compile the list, many recurring themes stand out and I believe they are easily corrected with a little more pre-planning and placing responsibility on DCA minded persons instead of relying on non-drum corps types who simply do not understand. Keep passing on the suggestions and complaints, I will make sure they get into the right hands. William Aldrich/Thorpe
  4. Some nice suggestions. I agree about the ushers, they confused the two standing orders. One was that spectators complained loudly that the people who were standing in the lower deck area were too loud and distracting to those that paid good money to see the performances. Two, that they were to BLOCK people from entering and leaving the seating area during a performance. This should be more emphasized next season. Security has been a problem for several years and this was one of the better years but we still have a way to go. The police in Scranton and specifically the stadium are use to rowdy and unpleasant behaviour. Their demeanor is stern at the least and at time nasty. DCA needs to have an assisgned security officer as apart of the DCA management team to handle security issues that arrive. Too much power and individual decision making on the part of the police was allowed and they simply do not understand drum corps. Coordination and support via radios would be a better solution for next year. This would allow DCA to make the decision on THEIR championship and not leave it to non-drum corps personnel. The issue of the base coverings WILL BE discussed with the staidum management for next season. The Labor Day weekend will be a week later than normal and should allow plenty of time for the stadium folks to cover those dirt piles. Keep the ideas and comments coming. They are NOT falling on deaf ears. William Aldrich/Thorpe
  5. All; I would like to hear from everyone who attended the DCA Championship this year to get a view on where problems occurred with the weekend. Issues with the stadium, security, DCA Venues, personel, etc. Would like to know specifics but please keep personalities and specific names off of your response. This is not an attempt to rehash bad moments, only to identify them and bringing them to the attention of the right folks at DCA. We cannot fix the past, only work harder to correct it for next year. If you would prefer to e-mail me privately to not bring your issue to the public stage, please send them to william.thorpe@mci.com - your privacy will be kept safe. William Aldrich/Thorpe
  6. All; A corps jacket may have been picked up in the first base dugout as it was left behind by the owner. I am trying to help the oner find out who may have picked up the jacket. If you have it, or knows something about it, please contact me at william.thorpe@mci.com. Thanks for your attention. William Thorpe
