  1. I just saw those scores from Mankato. I am gobsmacked that they were so low. Is there anyone on the forum in attendance at the show to shed some light on the two corps performance?

  5. Thanks MakeD, I am glad you liked to article. He is actually the second blind timpanist I interviewed. Back in 2003 when DCI was in Florida, I interviewed a very talented young lady name Alee Davis who was the timpanist for "Court of Honor" an Open Class corps out of Atlanta, GA. She was so nice and very easy to talk with and like Nick, she is proud of who she is, blind and all, and she has no issues discussing her life's challenges and her dreams. What was weird, she too wanted to march with the Kilties several years ago but the transportation and housing was too difficult. Such a small world we live in!
  6. I had an e-mail exchange with a woman named Kathy at DCI Merchandising. Not sure if this is just wishful thinking, but she told me they think the licensing issue may be resolved by mid-November. I certainly hope that is the case. I know a bunch of unhappy people who give out the DVDs as Christmas gifts.
  7. I had a friend ask me why she was not able to find and order DVDs for the 2015 DCI World Championships. I asked DCI about their latest status and Kathy from merchandising stated that they expect to have the licensing issue resolved by mid-November (fingers crossed). This licensing has affected all the organizations when it comes to DCI, DCA, WGI, and I believe USBands. This is why no on-demand streaming and a major delay on audio and video products. I personally do not see a major shift from physical products since most of the organizations offer blu-ray quality. I am not sure (correct me if I am wrong) but you cannot burn your own blu-ray DVDs too easily. It is possible, just not easily done. So I guess if DCI gets the licensing issue resolved will have a ripple effect.
  8. I have two articles in this edition on page 8 and 30. The first is my monthly All-Age feature and the second was an interview of Kilties tympanist, Nichalas Blasewitz. Check them out! http://www.drumcorpsworld.com/Magazines/nov_2015/mobile/index.html#p=1
  9. Finished my articles on Nick Blasewitz. Here is the link: http://www.drumcorpsworld.com/Magazines/nov_2015/mobile/index.html#p=30 Check it out and let me know what you think.
  10. I have two articles in this edition on page 8 and 30. The first is my monthly All-Age feature and the second was an interview of Kilties tympanist, Nichalas Blasewitz. Check them out! http://www.drumcorpsworld.com/Magazines/nov_2015/mobile/index.html
  11. I am trying to finalize my questions to Nick. Is there anything someone might like to read about regarding his tenure with the Kilties, his tympani playing, sight challenges that need to be addressed, etc. Let me know very soon. Thanks! ~Bill
  12. I am working on setting up an interview with Nick Blasewitz who is the sight challenged tympani player with the Kilties these past three seasons. I have some basic questions already worked out, but since this will be in a DCW article, I was hoping to find out what you would like to know about this remarkable young man? I see this as an opportunity to explore other aspects of our activity through others who may have a unique perspective. I did an interview back in 2003 down in Florida for the Open-Class DCI Championships with the tympani player named Allee Davis who was with Court of Honor out of Atlanta, GA. She was a remarkable young lady and had an interesting back story to tell. Interesting to note that she almost became a Kilties member herself back in 2005. Anyway, this is a great opportunity for you to give me questions that you would find interesting to read about people who experience drum corps from a different perspective. Thanks to all who contribute!

  17. Chris, I am always on the lookout for someone as interested in DC as myself who may be interested in attending shows. I did all the Pittsburgh shows and several Ohio show and Allentown. Would have loved to have a second driver and person to talk to about the show(s). I can let you know my schedule next season and if you would like to join me we can discuss the particulars. Hope all is well!

  20. I did discover that the Optimist Alumni are scheduled for the DCA Alumni Spectacular it was on their master schedule http://www.optimists-alumni.org/events.htm so they would be the eighth corps. UPDATE: I re-read the page and they say they are taking the summer 2015 off, so I guess they are not the eighth corps. If anyone finds out if there is an additional corps post it for us.
  21. Big John, I was emailing with Gil Silva, he had the same list but also included Yankee Rebels. I thought they discontinued the corps back in 2010. Can any one confirm this?
