  2. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 1, 2014. The Skyliners Drum & Bugle Corps announced today that they will be competing in Drum Corps Associates' Open Class in 2014. Their growing membership was the deciding factor, and their numbers have been over 65 (the maximum for Class "A") for some time. The corps thanks the New York Skyliner Alumni, their fans and friends for the overwhelming support and interest in the 2014 Skyliners. They look forward to entertaining you this summer! Charter and Founding members of Drum Corps Associates, The Skyliners are thrilled to be back on the field of competition. The Skyliners are the 1966, 1971 and 1975 DCA Champions; and 1999 and 2002 Drum Corps Associates' Class “A” Champions, in addition to other honors. They relocated to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area this past year, and have attracted members and staff from the surrounding high school bands and colleges. However, members also hail from England, Michigan, Connecticut, New Jersey and New York! The Skyliners are honored to be sponsored by the Michael Steiner American Legion Post #411 in Jessup, PA and the Garbarina-Mazarakos American Legion Post #1523 of New York City. The Skyliners’ 2014 show is entitled, “A New Dawn, a New Day.” Renowned for performing an exciting, entertaining, and crowd pleasing show, this year’s song selections will not disappoint our fans or members. The Skyliners have selected songs that contributed significantly to the history of jazz: “Feeling Good”, “Blue Skies”, “It Ain’t Necessarily So”, “Round Midnight”, and “Caravan”. To date, five competitions have been confirmed. Currently, the Skyliners will be competing at: Bridgeport on June 28th, Kiwanis Open in Secaucus, New Jersey on July 19th;’ Downingtown, PA on July 26; the Bushwhacker’s Show in Lawrence, New Jersey in on August 9th; and in Scranton, Pennsylvania on August 16th. The corps will post information about additional DCA competitions as they become available. For those interested in marching this summer, it is not too late! Contact us at join@sky2014.org. The concert starts at 2:00 P.M. at Wyoming Valley West High School at 150 Wadham Street, Plymouth, PA 18651. In the past, guest artists have performed with the Wyoming Valley West High School Concert Band at their Spring Concert. This year, High School Band Director Andy Kolojejchick invited the brass line of the Skyliners Drum & Bugle Corps to be the guest performers. The Skyliners, a competitive DCA (Drum Corps Associates) drum and bugle corps, have been rehearsing at Wyoming Valley West High School since November 2013.   10. In an exciting turn of events, Genesis DBC announces a new production plan for 2014. Our new production, titled "Art of Darkness", will explore the descent from the light of Reality to the dark images of Madness. "The creative team and I felt that this years group had a maturity about them that was ready for a production of this caliber. For now we will hold off on the original concept for future use and we are all very excited about this new direction." Art of Darkness will feature a revisitation of the corps 2012 source material composed by Two Steps From Hell and will also include Lux Aeterna (from Requiem for a Dream) and Mad World (from Donnie Darko) you can follow all the 2014 news on our Facebook www.genesisdbc.org
  11. The Crusaders posted on Facebook some sneak peeks of their uniforms. The full color picture can been seen in an advertisement in the March Edition of Halftime Magazine but you need a subscription. http://halftimemag.com/articles/subscribe.html I don't know what do expect from them. It looks really similar to the regular red underneath last years gray uniforms.

The Connecticut Hurricanes Drum & Bugle Corps, in conjunction with the Connecticut Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps and the Park City Pride Combined Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps, are excited to announce a Celebration of 100 Years of Drum Corps in Connecticut. This memorable occasion will kick off on June 21, 2014 with a banquet celebration and conclude on August 23, 2014 with a combined performance by the three corps at the annual DCA Fanfare competition sponsored by the Hurricanes. In 2014, the Connecticut Hurricanes are celebrating their 60th year of existence as a competitive drum & bugle corps. The Connecticut Alumni, the first such organization to be established as an alumni drum corps, is celebrating their 30th year in existence. The Park City Pride Alumni corps, the first alumni corps to be established by combining Alumni from over 15 different junior drum corps, is 10 years old. These combined active corps represent 100 years of activity. This is a part-time position with a year-round schedule.   22. Crimson Kings Drum Corps is now again searching for a Lead drum instructor. Please feel free to share this link! Thanks! =) As we continue to grow the Crimson Kings, we are seeking a Lead drum instructor to teach and expand our drumline in the heart of New York City’s Chinatown. You must have a clean record and experience teaching youth groups ages 10 to 22. You should be a patient team player with initiative interested in assisting further development of field and front ensemble percussion programs. You are enthusiastic, work well with youths, and love everything there is to love about drum corps activities. You will be responsible for teaching a range of experience levels but mostly beginners, creating music, routines, recruiting, and working towards developing an advanced field and pit percussion program. Experience with drum corps, DCA, DCI, winter units and/or marching band is ideal though we are open to similar type experiences. Please list any relevant experience in music and marching music percussion arranging/writing for keyboard percussion and field percussion. Being multilingual is a plus in either Chinese and/or Spanish but not a requirement. This is a part-time position with a year-round schedule.   23. The Conquistadors Drum & Bugle Corps is pleased to announce that we are holding an open house for our battery section on March 15th from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. The event will be held at the Church of the Nazarene in Owego, NY and will run alongside our color guard camp. Membership is open to anyone over the age of 11 and people of all experience levels are encouraged to attend. The drumline will perform at local events throughout the summer to gain more community interest and to fundraise for future events.
