  2. Legends seems to be in a pretty dire situation financially. They need significant funds to keep the corps moving down the road to Indy. Take a look at the video from their director and consider helping them out if you can: https://www.classy.org/campaign/legendsnow/c138390

  4. Have you guys heard about the StreetBeat5K? It's a 5K run/walk/jazz run that takes place the Saturday of DCI Finals. The fee is only $35, and HALF of your fee goes to support the music program of your choice. You can support your favorite corps, or even a marching band program, if you want! The run is timed, and you get a nice T-shirt out of the deal. I ran last year and had a blast. Let me know if you have any questions. Hope to see you there! (I'll be the one in the red and black/ 9 rings of hell outfit on.. because dressing up for 5Ks is fun!) 6. Hey gang. I've been trying to get the word out about a new DCI SoundSport group that is desperately trying to form out of a bad situation in Doylestown, Ohio. The alumni from Chippewa High in Doylestown were once a state competitive dynasty getting superior ratings at State Finals to winning a BOA regional title. In April we learned all of our trophies and hard work were thrown into a dumpster by the school (no sports trophies were destroyed...hrm). Trophies from the same program that delivered many DCI and DCA performers as well as a director of the US Marine Corps band. Obviously forming a SoundSport is hard work (and brasslines don't buy themselves), but we definitely have the staff and talent to do it, but we need some serious help getting our name and story out. www.rogueshollowregiment.com
  7. Sorry all, likely wrong topic but this should be seen by as many people as it can be. GoFundMe typically takes 8 or so percent away from the donations marchers recieve as operating costs plus another 3 percent to go to whomever handles the money (in GFM's case, WePay), and this site http://www.youcaring.com/, only takes the 3 percent to distribute money as well as offering PayPal as an option too. For anyone looking to fundraise, this is a far better idea than GoFundMe. I estimate ive lost 80 or 90 bucks to GoFundMe that could have been put towards fees.
  8. Hello, my name is Alexis Macy. I have been contracted to march baritone with the Sacramento Mandarins for their 2015 season. This is a major dream come true for me because I have always wanted to march with a corps, but I never though I could because Im primarily a flute player. I had taught myself baritone (I have been playing for about 9 months now) and I never thought I wouldve been good enough. But now I have been contracted and I have the chance to live my dream. However, there are a lot of fees associated with drum corps. My tour fees plus round trip flight for April is $1600. I am in desperate need for help with this fee. My parents are doing all they can, but they also have financial committments, which means it is up to me to try to raise the funds. If you, or anyone you know could possibly help, I have a gofundme account with which you can donate. My gofundme is gofundme.com/mandarinsme. Any donation is greatly appreciated! Please, I really need help. It would be heartbreaking if I couldnt march my dream due to lack of finances. Thank you!
  9. Running a corps

Generally speaking, what are the basic ins and outs of running an open class corps? I've heard that the biggest expenses are gasoline, housing, and food, but I have no clue what the rough dollar amounts for those tend to be among OC corps. And then buses and instruments are capital expenses (up front) that you can maintain for years - correct me if I'm wrong. I'd just like some clarification and discussion. EDIT: this is not me trying to start a corps. This is solely for the purpose of wanting to know for my own interest.
  10. Hi everyone! My name is Gabriel Cabrera. I'm a sophomore at Southwestern Illinois College and the University of Kentucky. In addition to being a full time college student, I am an avid fan of marching music, especially DCI. With only 2 years of eligibility left, I figured the only thing better than watching DCI would be to finally take the initiative and join a group for the 2015 season! I'm a clarinet player by trade, but hope to put my brass experience to use by marching tuba for the Colts of Dubuque, IA, in 2015! Being out of the St. Louis area, I have to drive a considerable distance for camps. The five hour drive plus food, camp costs, and overall membership costs will make this close to a $3600 price tag. I do work part time, so I hope to make up as much of the costs on my own as I can. However, I'd appreciate the help all the same. I've already nailed down the first $1000, so I'm already well on my way! If you would like to help me march this summer, please message me through this site, email me at the address below, or go to http://www.gofundme.com/gabedci2015 I hope you'll consider helping me make the most of this amazing opportunity. Thank you, Gabriel Cabrera Email address: gabe.cabrera@gmail.com
  11. Member Sponsorship

Hello DCP Community, My name is Justin Wilkins I am in my fourth and age out year with the Blue Stars Color guard, The past three years that I have spent with the Blue Stars have been the most inspiring, challenging, and overall greatest years of my life. The organization means so much to me for it has not only made me a stronger performer but a stronger, well rounded person. To let you know a little more about myself I am full time and senior student at Columbia College Chicago studying Arts, Entertainment, and Media Management with a concentration in touring and producing live music. With my degree and my love for the life of living on the road my future career goal is to be a tour manager for a performing artist. Going on tour not only gives me the wonderful experience of drum corps but also experience that can help me in my future career goals. Aside from attending school full time I also a coach the Lake Park High School color guard in Roselle, Illinois. Who just finished their 2014 winter season finishing 24th in Scholastic A. On top of school tuition and rent it is becoming very difficult for myself to make payments for my age out summer. This why I am reaching out to you for any help you could possibly offer. After 3 years of hard work, passion, and dedication I could not explain how much this corps and activity has truly left an impact on my life. Which is why I cannot simply let myself miss out on what is expected to be the most rewarding, emotional, and unforgettable summer yet. I completely understand that times are difficult for everyone but I cannot stress enough that any donation regardless of how big or small is more than appreciated. I cannot do this without your help. Finis Coronat Opus; The end crowns the work. I understand that my post is not a discussion topic that is typically posted on this site. I am desperate in finding any funds that I possibly can so I can march my age out summer. When I say anything is appreciated I mean ANYTHING. If you are interested there are a couple of ways to sponsor a member. With the chance that I receive any donations from this site in order to prevent flooding the office with invoices I have made a GoFundMe account (http://www.gofundme.com/8ay9m0). It is understandable if you don't want to donate through this site but is just an easier option for the office as well as for me to keep track of what is being donated. 1) A direct sponsorship By sending a check to: Blue Stars P.O. Box 2523 La Crosse, WI 54602-2523 **While writing the check please be sure to put Justin Wilkins Sponsorship in the Memo/For line. ** 2) By Credit Card Visit: http://shop.bluestars.org/member-tuition-payments/member-tuition-payment/ (Enter the amount you want donate for dues in the "Quantity" field.) 3) Via telephone Call the office at 608-782-3219 to pay via credit card. Thank you for your time. Justin Wilkins

  13. My name is Kyle Oyama and in currently a member of an independent open color guard group called Vox Artium, located in San Diego. I have yet to experience WGI as a performer (not even a regional), and this is probably the last chance I'm ever going to have to make it happen. I greatly appreciate any kind of help I can get! If you can find it in your heart to donate to a fellow color guard member, I will love you forever! Even if it's just a dollar. Also, if you can refer me to people/businesses you know that would be interested in supporting me that would be amazing. Thank you so much, in advance, for the help and for simply reading all of this. Here is the link you can go to to donate: http://www.gofundme.com/Send-me-to-Dayton Please feel free to share this with anyone/everyone you know, and post it on your social networking sites as well!
