Perry S
Thoughts on these photos:Good- Madison's drumline and hornline look sharp. Still love them Colts unis Phantom looks like classic Phantom Cavies' Guard definitely pulling off the Samurai look Sweeet drums from the Cavies. Bad- Madison's pit looks ridiculous in those unis Phantom's drums look like crap, honestly some of the ugliest drums I've seen. Crown's Plumes look terrible, Davy Crockett is my first thought. Question, what is the significance of the squares on crown's uni, and why was the yellow square on different spots in different unis? Totally agree with you on the Madison pit look. Ugh! Totally disagree with you on the look of Phantom's drums. Very Sharp. I'll have to wait to see Crown's plume live but for now not liking it. Granny Smith
Crowns plumes look pretty good live, IMO. One thing I noticed, is how integrated Cavies guard is into their show, whereas I felt like Crown's was just kind of out there rolling around and stuff. These are just first impressions from lower down in the stadium.
notelvis
Great Pictures and thanks for sharing. I would have been tempted to title the thread 'Madison Scouts - STILL in search of a uniform'. The cut of the jackets is odd - what's the point? The ties didn't work on the Eisenhour jackets 25 years ago and they don't work now. You can't see them when the horns are in either a regular carry or playing position. The pit looks like a bunch of Junebugs. How many more various uniform experiments will we see from the Scouts before they realize they once had one of the most perfect uniforms in the history of the activity and embrace that heritage rather than try to improve it? 27/soa
I expected Cavies' guard to look more like the typical Samurai image I've always seen (maybe sans the helmet). Much as I can't wait to see how awesome the show is, I CAN wait to see the Ralph Macchio/Karate Kid head sash on them. It looks like anime‘. sburstall
Bad-Madison's pit looks ridiculous in those unis Pioneer has that look that Madison should be going for and used to have with the Eisenhower jacket and the 90s uniform. IMO, Madison lost thier onfield identity when they made that drastic change to focus their uniform on the fluer de lis. Great pics nonetheless. I tend to agree. They remind me of a cheesy high school guard uniform. (My rival high school actually wore guard uniforms very similar to this back in the day)
notelvis
All this from a guy who made the top 25 with a pink panel on the front of his uniform… Actually, I think at the time we guys may have preferred 'fuschia'. In fairness to Madison, I really kind of liked the look they gave us in 2006 (white jacket, red sash, green pants) and wish they had explored where they could go with that a little more. Otherwise though, they have never looked better, before or since, than they did from about 1987 through 2002.
