tommytimp
I am thinking scalene triangles and maybe a little Barber and Bartok...whaddya think? I don't see how a show like that would be innovative in the least.
Galen
I'll be honest- I really don't care WHAT they put on the field next year. Sure, I might have my preferences for what I'd love to hear, but really, I only have one request for Phantom Regiment. MOVE me. Move my heart and spirit with your gorgeous playing and glorious sound, as you've moved me this year and so many times in the past. I can remember leaving a show 2 years ago in Decatur IN with tears in my eyes after hearing Phantom play their encore because I had truly been touched that night. Keep that up- that's all I ask for next year.
ajlemm
As for that, I have nothing. I'm not a drum corps designer with years of experience. I trust them to make the best decision for the corps and, while it IS fun to speculate, it's not like it matters. I was just responding to the "Don't change a thing." school of thought, that's all. Just because one can understand something doesn't necessarily one has any good solutions. Phantom Regiment should produce a show which is both emotionally captivating, aesthetically pleasing, and melodically beautiful while maintaining a high degree of difficulty in all aspects. They should do this while retaining the elements which remain key to their public persona. So, for instance, I would be surprised to see Regiment playing showtunes. Which isn't to say they would not or could not do so. People get paid to think of these things. I'm procrastinating and playing armchair quarterback from my computer. I don't NEED to have ideas. Yes, but us armchair quarterbacks usually have opinions! Regiment does such beautiful work with dark symphonies and most recently, star-crossed lovers. Because I haven't been as up on what composers, symphonies and stories that are out there, I rely upon the DCP pro's to throw out some ideas! Let's go people! mn trumpter guy
I would like to see a show with a horn book like 2003 and 2007. Thats just me I'm in. probably my two favorite shows musically that they have done (followed by 89, of course). I could go for some Mahler... with arrangments like 03 and 07....
