Mexico Show Review

Mexico this weekend showcased 23 guards and the always talented C-NS Dance Team. Shows so far have come such a long way. This is shaping up to be one of the best seasons in MYCGC that I have seen personally in a long time.

Cadet

C-NS Northstars Cadet (1st 64.8) - What a change from last year. Doing a show entitled “Under Stormy Skies” this cadet guard brings it to the table. With fast dance moves and fast rifle work, this group will sure be a contender for the Cadet title this year.

Central Square JV (2nd 62.6)-“Levon” by Elton John is this year soundtrack for this talented group, with Pretty blue dresses and great equipment skills this group have grown this year, it 3 minutes of pure beauty to watch.

Vestal Cadet (3rd 51.9)- “Dancing Queen” is this year’s theme for this young group. Dress in aqua and complete with disco balls, this group exhibit great skills for the JV guard of the Vestal Family.

SRA

Mexico (1st 64.1) - Step into the world of Dreams as Mexico perform “Dreaming” from Cirque Del Soil “Le Reve”. This is a complete change from last year show or for that matter anything show Mexico have every performed. With fast rifles and dead on flag work this group could take the SRA title this year. Also the eyes on the floor opening and closing is a great touch.

Phoenix Jr. (2nd 63.8)- “Black Horse in the Cherry tree” is a show stopping track for this year guard. With colorful flags, fast movement, and attitude this group is on the tail of Mexico. This guard has seamless transitions and rifle work that great for a SRA group.

Sherburne-Earlville (3rd 61.4)- Take a step into your dreams as S-E performs the ever popular “Dream On” by Kelly Sweet. With pretty purple flags, beautiful movement phases, and flawless saber work S-E is back in action this season.

Westmoreland (4th 61.3) - “Hero” Music of Creed is this year soundtrack. As this group takes another style change they execute great skill in flags and rifles. They tell the stories that everybody needs a hero at some point. They can be a competitor for the title next month.

West Genesee JV (5th 58.8)- Go on a flight as WG JV takes us into the life of “Emilia Earhart” . Set to “The Ballard of Emilia Earhart” the guard moved across their star floor with great skill and movement.

Oswego (6th 58.1)- Out for their 3rd year Oswego does a show based on the children book “Sadako and the Thousand Paper Crane” set to the music of Pearl Harbor. This group had breath taking flag exchanges and beautiful props. This one of the best shows that Oswego done in there 3 years back.

Cortland (7th 53.8)- The music of “Twilight” helps us see the eternal love in us all for each other. With fast flag work and fast movement work Cortland is sure to entertain this season.

Jordan-Elbridge (8th 52.2)- Vanessa Carlton’s Version of “Where the Streets have No Name” is a moving soundtrack for this group. With color flags and rifles, J-E shows that all roads connect.

IRA

New Hartford JV (1st 59.3) – “Make it Mine” music of Jason Mraz, is New Hartfords JV show this year. This show has good equipment work as well as many colorful phase throughout their show. It will be a race between ME-UE Jr., Lakeside, and themselves to see where they place in the top 3 in March.

Lakeside (2nd 58.6)- With a picture of a man with a question mark as their prop, they are doing a show entitled “Could it Be You?” music by Cascada. This guard have came such a long way from last year as they are scoring where they were scoring at championships, with seven talented ladies trying to answer the question are you Mr. Right? Taking the Equipment and Movement captions in this class they are on the brink of maybe taking IRA after winning last place last year. They had beautiful tye dye flags and also daring work in there show, it a joy to watch. Sure to be a race to championship between these two groups as both times they meant it been decided by less than a point.

SA2

New Hartford Var. (1st 67.1)- Also let step into a dream with NH Var. as they performs Two versions of Kelly Sweets “Dream On”. With reflection props and sheer curtains this group brings it. With fast and tight equipment work this group shows why they are on top of SA2.

APW (2nd 61.6)- Welcome to the steps of a place in India as APW presents there show “Dhoom Tana”. With orange rifles and blue sabers. They take us on a trip as they celebrates with fast flag moves and daring rifle tricks. They are doing well in their first year in SA2

Vestal Sr. (3rd 60.3)- “Letting Go” is what Vestal is doing in this emotional show. Set on tall platforms Vestal describes to us through color and tricks the pain of letting a love one go. This group will go far this season.

IA

C-NS Northstars JV (1st 68.1)- Set on a Black floor C-NS JV presents “Paint it Black”. Complete with a live violin this group’s does insane movement along with great work in this class. It non stops thrill from beginning to end.

Scarlet Edge (2nd 61.2)- After winning the IRA class 3 years in a row they moved to IA. They are doing a show entitled “Rain” set to the soundtrack of the “American River”. They have many colorful flags along with high rifles and saber tosses. They will do very well this year.

SA1

C-NS Northstars Var. (1st 74.9)- With a giant question mark on the floor they are doing a show entitled “Why” music of Annie Lenox. This is a moving show that will take you on an emotional ride. With high flag and powerful statements in movement and equipment, this show will be a force to be reckoned with at WGI this year.

Central Square Var. ( 2nd 72.1)- They are “Feeling Good” as they perform this year. With tall tables and bright yellow flags this group knows how to entertain a crowd. With breathe taking solos and dead on flag work they will be a tough act to beat.

Phoenix Sr. (2nd 72.1)- Doing “Dream On” music of Vitamin Strings, Phoenix has a fresh look this year. With fast rifle ripples and daring flag launches this show will be one to watch on the way to Dayton.
