Most obscure corps you ever saw/competed against

Recommended Posts

Simple.... What are the corps you saw or competing against that most folks have never heard of?

Might be one of the few times these corps are ever recognized....

Edit: My that was quick.... just finished doing the Senior/All Age side

PS - Have pins from Golden Skyliners from Montana and few others I can't remember...

new day from somewhere in the illinois/wisconsin area. We competed against them in 1987 and I think they had maybe 11 members. actually there were 4 or 5 corps at the show and we outscored all of the other corps combined and I believe the knights were one of the corps which shows you how low the scores were for the rest of them. I believe new day had either a single digit score or something around an 11.

I still have a key chain from the Golden Garrison from Ypsilanti, MI. They were a small corps. Not sure why I held on to the key chain, but I still remember the corps for some reason.

my first job out of college was in michigan with a financial planning firm. One day I was driving to a meeting with my manager and we started talking, he asked me what I did for fun and I brought up drum corps and the bluecoats. Turned out he marched with the Golden Garrison.

Ooops, found some info on the Cannoneers a while back. Need to dig out and send to corpsreps... :worthy:

*sigh* First show I ever saw was a DCA show at Hershey, PA in 1974. Exhibition corps looked like a very young (GSC?) group that was not listed in the program. Can't remember who they were, only that part of the show was from "1776" ("Lees of Old Virginia").

During my time with a local-circuit junior corps in New Jersey, we would see corps at the NJ VFW and American Legion state championships that we rarely, if ever, saw anywhere else. Corps like the Shadettes, Broadcasters, Sea Horse Lancers, etc.

New Day is from Racine. They used to be all girl, but are coed now.

I would have to say the most obscure for me would be the Pages of the Wausaw Story (their cadet corps). I think Wausaw Story had about 5 or 6 horns in '82 when we saw them. Pioneer III ranks up there too!

Brantree Braves from MA - Class C in E-Mass Circuit

1 horn, 1 drum, 1 flag - no kidding, I felt bad for the judges.
