They just sound bad and detract from the brass and percussion. Perhaps we should ground all instruments in the pit and just have a professional dance and tumbling troupe do the field work!At least the narration and associated vocal vomit seems to have diminished somewhat this year. Let's hope it dies a quiet death as soon as possible. I've only seen one DCI corps (at a DCA show) and the use of guitar and bass completely distracted one from the corps, was horribly mixed, and badly staged. Synths, electric guitar, electric bass, stringed instruments, rappers, soap opera narratives are fine in BOA. They can do as they please in BOA. But please purify DCI by returning to percussion, brass and guard-no more, no less. If DCI management has forgotten how to do this, please get in touch with DCA.
