DCPI-13 Here We Go!

Recommended Posts

After a brief hiatus, the Midwest corps will start working their way into the "cornfield" portion of their tour, starting in Ottumwa with the first of two Iowa shows

Meanwhile, a packed lineup of western corps will head into Autzen Stadium for a major event in Eugene. There was strong talk that Eugene would wind up as a regional event host this season, and there is a high possibility that this will happen next season:

Well, Providence had a better night in Eugene tonight than they did in Grants Pass. Still have a ways to go in the visual department but overall we're satisfied with where we are.

3 events on tap for tomorrow.

In the east, there has been a change of venue for the Wheeling WV event. Due to winter flooding at Wheeling Island Stadium, this event will take place across the river at Martins Ferry HS in Martins Ferry OH. We are unable to confirm or deny rumors that the flooding may have been caused by Ohio Valley Thunder dumping a truck full of props into the river just south of the island.

Meanwhile, the two other scheduled events will go on as planned. West Des Moines' Valley HS has proven to be an outstanding venue for drum corps in the past, and the large group of corps scheduled to compete will surely entertain the audience that always turns out in droves for this event, which is co-hosted this season by Inergy and Projekt Music.

Finally, southern corps will venture to Hamilton GA's Harris County HS. Both the number and sheer talent of the corps competing at this event threaten to overwhelm the intimate stadium.

One thing is for sure... Kadence is King at the Wheeling show. Cross has split from Jupiter heading on a Northeast swing before the European tour. They look to match-up with Detroit City tonight.

Jupiter remains in the deep South in Hamilton tonight.

Hawaii is taking the night off and rehearsing at Cascade High School in Everett, WA.

Any rumors of the Ohio Valley Performing Arts Assoc. or their subsidiary the Ohio Valley Thunder Drum and Bugle Corps being directly involved with the flooding of Wheeling Island or the pot hole known as Wheeling Island Stadium, are unfounded and mostly rhetoric from officials. However, we aren't exactly "sad" per se that the show venue has been moved...

p.s. Any alleged props dumped into said river would have to be dumped north of said island for said island to flood since said river flows south.

Great nights for 2 of my corps tonight. Kadence took a 4-point jump in Martins Ferry while LWC went up 2.5 in Des Moines.

We're coming up to our next big weekend of shows, with all four regions staging events tonight. Today's theme is "up close and personal", as all four shows are staged in small venues that give the competing corps the chance to get right up in the audience's faces and make some ears bleed.

Eastern corps travel to Butler PA, former home of the General Butler Vagabonds, to compete at Butler HS:

In the northwest, several corps who have been competing in Oregon will travel to Monroe WA's Snohomish County Stadium for Washington State's sole DCPI competion:

Down south, corps travel to Gulf Shores High School near Mobile AL:

And in the midwest, a slate of corps travel to Harrisonville HS, 30 miles south of Kansas City:
