capitalbrass
CB's own Mike Blair (Tuba major, Eastman School) is the recipient of a great opportunity for this summer. His chamber group, Oracle Brass, received the quintet fellowship and full-ride scholarships for the summer to live together and play concerts with American Brass Quintet, beginning with the Aspen Music Festival, and through late August. But until he leaves, he will perform with Capital Brass! on baritone and tuba, for May and most of June! Glad to have him back from school for a short time. And, we're all very happy he's getting this great opportunity! Congrats, Mike! Edited April 4, 2010 by capitalbrass

I have attended national chamber music competitions at the collegiate level as a spectator and the level of performance is unbelieveably outstanding. Congrats! capitalbrass
This is quite an honor for the whole quintet. For 3 years, now, we have had college music students participate with us during the summer school break. CB! has given them a summer home to perform with a working group. And we've benefited quite a lot, from the skills and input they bring with them. In all cases, it's been a pleasure, and another step in the growth of our little ensemble. The upcoming recital at St. Rose is an opportunity that developed from this practice. We already have several inquiries from students interested in sitting in when they return from school, to the Albany area.
