Wow, this crowd LEAPED to their feet at the end of the show. A lotta love for these kids. That was pretty magical.

After setting up, the pit uses their mallets like telescopes, gazing up to the stars.

Pit also playing a little during the pre-show, heard a little Twinkle, Twinkle.

Now a horn trio in the back played the ET melody.

Basses just played a quick Mars rhythm.

Back to the pit, now on Jupiter.

This is fun.

Tubas just played the Close Encounters alien theme.

Corps is now set up, DM has saluted. Here we go.

Opening stabs from the corps, then the corps turns backfield for a short segment. Back front, slow company front moving diagonally across the field. Very well balanced sound for the size of the horn line. Drum line is pretty clean to start, too.

I was just going to say that the drums were overpowering the horns a little. Then the horns kicked up the volume and shut me up.

Small brass ensemble that just played had a very warm and balanced sound. This is a very listenable show.

For four tubas, they put out a strong sound.

Love the Bartok piece! Last heard it from Freelancers in '91.
