Shamrock Festival Review

Great to finally shake your hand and meet ya BigW! Donna and I enjoyed sitting at the after party and talking a while... It was dark in that auditorium and my digital camera was insufficient as well to get better photos...

OK... I've finally got all of the photos and audio files edited and uploaded. Once again my apologies for the time it takes me to get all of this on line. (It takes me a day just to "recover"...LOL)

Just a couple of personal notes if I may...

Last Saturday night in Horsham, PA was one of the really great AND sad nights in our activity. ALL of the Alumni Corps performances were one of the best I've seen and heard in the last few of years. It was one of the saddest nights in our activity because we all said "Good By" to one of the greatest Alumni Drum Corps we've had the privilege to see, hear and enjoy. After 22 years as an Alumni Drum Corps the Yankee Rebels performance in Horsham PA was sadly to be their very last.

On a personal note, I'd like to thank the Yankee Rebels Alumni Corps organization for allowing Donna and myself to be a small part of their family. Since 2007 Donna & I have been enjoying the friendships and camaraderie of this great Drum Corps family. Donna has been a volunteer in their Honor Guard and, though I've never worn their well respected uniform, they have welcomed me as one of their own. Though saddened that the Yankee Rebels Alumni Corps is no more, we are very excited that the Yankee Rebels Alumni Association is ongoing and is as strong as ever.

To ALL of the performers in Horsham, THANK YOU for making Saturday night the great success it was. We have several of our own DC family (here on DCP) that were a part of this great evening. Several members were to take part this night. TO ALL of them, my personal thanks for making it the memorial evening it was.

Here are the links to the photos and audio files. If there are any you'd like a copy of please use as you see fit. (there was no announcement that taking any photos/videos/audios was not allowed...)

What a great night of drumcorps performances. As a member of the Brassmen (Perc arranger\DM\snare soloist), the warm crowd response to our performance was greatly appreciated. I also have to give the Reilly Raiders a major shout out for the after party, extremely friendly people, great food and atmosphere.

Thanks so much for the "stuff" Tony..... I'll pass the links up the chain to Lancer BusMang. And personally can't wait to get home to check out our "Men of Harlach". Hard to hear how the the parts match up when you're standing at the end of the corps.

Missed the after show party but will echo what Fastone said about the friendly atmosphere. Doing "Grand Old Flag" was almost like being at a party except for the sad reason we did it (and the audience watching).

Hard to imagine that I joined Hanover in 2004 and did one standstill with other corps (Coatesville). Next one wasn't until last year at Plymouth and have three on the plate this year (Stinger, Shamrock and Plymouth yet to come). Just been a real positive experience the whole way around.

Not really. The man feels absolutely no pressure whatsoever. If the show is running behind schedule? So what. He isn't a type A personality. And I'm sure you noticed his excellent skills at ad-libbing.

Frank (who happens to be a relative of mine somewhere on my maternal side, 52nd cousin twice removed or something :lle: ) is (or was at one time) a radio announcer. At last year's Pennsylvania Drum Corps Hall of Fame Induction Breakfast Frank served as one of our emcees. Gary Matczak from the Erie Thunderbirds served as the other emcee. Two of the best and they worked VERY well together. Gary has the same temperment as Frank. They both have a very calming affect on me, and believe me that ain't easy to do. You really could have approached him. The man is as warm as the sun that shines upon your face, really.

This could not be a better description of this man . . . and his wife Maureen . . . two amazing people . . . one wonderful couple . . . :worthy:
