In 1971 there were 17 corps at DCA Prelims

In 1981 there were 17 corps at DCA Prelims

In 1991 there were 17 corps at DCA Prelims

In 2001 there were 15 corps at DCA Prelims

In 2011 there will be 22 corps at DCA Prelims

(23 if SoCal Dream had been able to make it)

Sounds like DCA is doing something right these days...

I believe the biggest turnout in DCA history was 26 corps, in 2005.

Would have been nice if So.Cal. Dream ,Vililantes and Sun Devils plus Gulf Coast Sound that would bring the total up to 26

That prelims show in '05 was one very long day.... including the unfortunate situation of Lothar's passing.

Bucs are the only corps in DCA history to start before midnight and end after it.

very long day, not counting the unfortunate Lothar issue.

I dream of a 30 corps slate. maybe one day

One thing I remember about that day/night in 2005 was the performance of the Chicago Royal Airs reunion/alumni corps at the end of that very long day.

After all the stuff that had gone on that day... for whatever reason the Royal Airs performance was just what was needed, at least for me.... a fun "down memory lane" show, performed well, a chance to relax and just enjoy the show.

Royal Airs was fun that year, but to me, the best Royal Airs alumni performance was Madison in 02....when Brandt said "on the starting line" the crowd went nuts, and when they fired the starters pistol, the place became unglued.

Don't let it be said kids today don't respect the past. that place was packed with kids cheering them on
