Selden Cadets A Little History Note

Recommended Posts

Joe Calisto left Selden for a while in 1960(?) and Hy Dreitzer taught Selden's hornline till Joe came back. Hy Dreitzer was in the middle of arranging the "20th Century Fox Fanfare" and "God Bless a Legionnaire" when Joe Calisto came back just as Hy was teaching these two numbers and they were never used. The great arrangement "Mack The Knife", however; was arranged and taught by Hy Dreizter when Bob Allan, Sr. was director and he had Hy Dreizter write it for the corps.

Today, the alumni corps is playing an great updated arrangement of "Mack The Knife" by John Arientano that really rocks the house

The Selden Alumni Corps will be performing at the "Shamrock Festival" hosted by the great Reilly Raiders on August 20th.
