garfield
Trying to integrate the I&E captions into the judging of field shows. Oboe and sax: should they go under GE-Music or Music-Ensemble? Dance ensemble: should it go under GE-Visual or Visual-Colorguard? Vocals under GE-Music or Music-XX? Where should these be judged if they were judged in 2011? Inquiring minds want to know. garfield
I'm bumping this because it's a serious question; I'm working on a project that needs to classify I&E captions into the marching genre. So, I'll ask it another way: If you were the singular decision-maker who had to integrate the I&E captions into the marching adjudication, where would you put them? I'm not trying to be controversial (well...), this not to pick fun at the I&E captions or performers (really!), and I'm not really looking for a debate - just opinions I'm looking for the Borg Collective's individual opinions, so help me out and give me your thoughts, please. ThankYouVeryMuch
cowtown
both really It’s part of the effect but also needs to fit in and be preformed with in the context of the ensembles
Tom Brace
Trying to integrate the I&E captions into the judging of field shows. Where should these be judged if they were judged in 2011? Inquiring minds want to know. My answers are as follows: 1. Both. Even as a solo instrument, they are taken into the music ensemble scores. Because what are the other musicians doing while the soloist is playing? 2. Again, both. Dance is part of Guard and Visual. 3. Music XX? There is no current category for Music-XX. I would answer the same as #1. There you go.
BRASSO
Vocals under GE-Music or Music-XX? When it doubt, just give it to Guard judge. Realistically, who knows what the voice training, experience, knowledge, professional performance level, etc. is of the Brass judge, Percussion judge, GE judge, Visual judge, etc is for " Voice " anyway. Most Brass and Percussion staff and judges I know have about as much expertise in " Voice " to be qualified to judge Vocals as much as Donald Trump does.
