Glassmen 2012

Recommended Posts

Cannot be closer to the truth, from what I know as well.

A lot of word coming out is essentially that...

1 - much can be learned from euphman89's post, and...

2 - this may be the show that should have been done as a 50th anniversary :)

I can agree. From what a couple of people have passed on to me, I'm excited for the possibilities of this show. It does seem a bit more appropriate for a 50th anniversary show than a vampire show. I've listened to some of the source material that was passed on to me on youtube and I think this will be much better and people will really enjoy this.

I asked an acquaintance what's up in Toledo. I am unable to divulge this individual's identity, but let's just say he or she is definitely in a position to know. So, without further ado, here's the message:

(the show is) going to be cool. we are waiting for the release to be sent out. but it will be a mix of old drum corps classics, and some newly composed music. It is going to be a very cool concept which makes our image more solid

So there you go! :)

DCW spilled the beans on composers and show title in the May issue.

The show is called GlassWorks

Music of Glass, Poulan/Ferguson, James Horner, and Camille Saint-Saens

Thinking this should have been the 50th anniversary show.

DCW spilled the beans in the May issue.

The show is called GlassWorks

Mishima - Philip Glass

Original Music - Poulan/Ferguson

Beyond Borders from Etheopia iii - James Horner

Symphony No. 3 - Camille Saint-Saens

Thinking this should have been the 50th anniversary show.

Just to clarify, Brian Hickman provided Drum Corps World with the show title and list of composers only. He did not provide any source music titles, and our repertoires listing in the May issue does not include any source music. So who really "spilled the beans" euphman89?

I wish we'd get a lot more bean spilling from Corps in the offseason on their show and their progress rather than us relying on spleen splitting.

agree -- love the organ symphony !

One of my favorite all-time shows is Regiments 1990 show with the Organ Symphony!!!!

Can't wait to hear the Glassmen's take on it.

It was also used in the film about the pig, "Babe".

I played it in the Hanover Wind Symphony at a concert in a church around 1991 or 92...complete with pipe organ and piano solists. Amazing piece!!!
