So the scenario you describe here would never happen in DCI unless the current number of WC/OC corps dwindled drastically. uh actually WGI has 3...A, Open and World. they have 2 divisions, scholastic and Independent, and 3 classes in each. just thought I'd share the truth with ya Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

They draw bodies that can be trained to move to the A corps, and they provide interest on the local level for the BD or SCV brand name. but OC doesnt pay like WC does. So they use those units in other ways to help offset the costs and to feed the A corps image. This would be true if first shot at open spots in the A corps were granted to kids based who spent time in the B corps; but that is not the case. Being in the B corps carries no weight whatsoever on making it into the A corps. That is why many of the A corps performers do not come from the B corps and many of the B corps kids audition and march for other WC corps. That is why many of the A corps performers do not come from the B corps and many of the B corps kids audition and march for other WC corps. kids coming from their B corps have 1st right to make it in A corps BUT no guarantee just as theres really not a guarantee that if you are borderline in the WC corps for any reason...talent, money, committment, a basic good member..they wouldnt be guaranteed a spot either. the days of you have a spot merely because you have hung around are long gone. The NFL limits who goes into what division based on competitive quality? Then for most of the last 40 years the Detroit Lions should have been semi pro. The point being addressed was that the poster was stating that this is America and choices therefore should not be limited; my point was that choices are limited all the time in the competitive arena such as University XYZ cannot just choose to be a part of the The Big Ten, or ABC football team cannot just choose to be in the NFL. Nowhere does it say they have to take those kids. When there were 400 corps, sure it made sense. now it's the best of the best. doesnt make it right, doesnt make it wrong....it just makes it what it is. you realize that say the Red Sox, who have a feeder system of hundreds of ball players dont keep them all or put them in the major leagues right?
