GUARDLING
Funny when you look back at our activity..Over the years there have been great things BUT also spawned frustrated dancers who produced some good movers but alot of BAD dancing, fashionestas who needed a color wheel and a mirror at times so it's only natural I guess that some now think they are budding Speilbergs....lol....gotta love it! somerville
This is completely bogus. This opens up a Pandora's Box and will allow any color guard to be exempt from being posted on Fan Network for a multiple of reasons. There could of easily been a drop down box that stated that the video has sensitive images, but instead, it just says Fantasia requested it not be posted. This show is being performed in high school gyms around the country but can't be posted on a site where people pay to watch performances? We pay for this service and WGI Fan Network will be damaged. I agree this is a bunch of hype as well as a bunch of crap. And really pathetic, Fantasia, we can take it, and you probably are not that cutting edge. WGI better rectify this soon.

combia1
Here's what I'm not buying. There are probably a lot of "first time" viewers, moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, band boosters, kids, school administrators, etc. who are seeing their first or second winter guard competition live at a local show or WGI regional. If anyone is likely to be offended, it will be these "newbies" who are not as familiar with the activity. The people who subscribe to the Fan Network are probably MUCH more familiar with the activity. People I would consider "vets" and a slightly more educated and involved audience. A "friendly" crowd who is more likely to "get" Fantasia's show. And probably less likely to be offended. The excuse that Fantasia is giving rings hollow. If they are truly concerned that some people might be offended, they would not have chosen that show in the first place. garfieldfan80
There's a lot of talk here out west that WGI is using Fantasia's supposed "request" as an excuse themselves. I do not know directly, but from southern cali there's anger that WGI basically decided and said video is coming down and used the politically correct approach pushing it onto Fantasia's request to avoid charges of censorship, and requests for refunds. It's hard to hear people here coming down hard on Fantasia when if this is true, it's an entirely different situation. It's a great show in person and that part was probably going to be addressed anyway. I agree with a bunch of refund requests. The only way to get WGI's attention is to hit them in the wallet. Interesting that the YouTube version taken down was taken down by Adolf H. This story has holes in it already.

Like I said above, if Fantasia was truly concerned with offending people, they would probably be concerned with offending a live audience just as much - if not more - than a smaller online audience on the Fan Network. Kamarag
If anyone thinks this is anything more than a brilliant marketing campaign set up to generate buzz for Fantasia's show, they are seriously kidding themselves. WGI is facilitating the controversy by acquiescing to Fantasia's request to not show the video. This has little to do with being "offensive" content. If it was, WGI would have told Fantasia to change the show.
