bill
With all due respect, I think the folks of Racine may beg to differ.........Racine is by Presidential decree; The Drum Corps Capitol of the World. Search out the Kiltie alumni site; racinekiltiealumni.org for a complete list of all the drum corps that hailed from Racine. Ray Priester
Drum Corps City USA Cadets of Greece Alpine Girls Mighty Liberators Firebirds Patriots Northmen Fusion Crusaders Empire Statesmen I know I missed more Among the ones you may have missed, I think, were the Emerald Cadets and the Statesmen, both junior corps from the 60s and earlier. A former Staten Islander, Wayne Gundy, played snare with the Statesmen I believe. I remember him being mentioned in the local paper years ago as being a snare drummer with them. KeithHall
Being from NY I was just impressed with the amount of corps there were from Rochester. Yes Racine is up there too. I know there were more but how about this....Statesmen, Crusaders and Patriots all top corps at the same time all from the same area. Heck, in western NY we had 5 or 6 and they were never at the level that the three Rochester corps were. Maybe Tom Peashey and Dick Hoppe can add more insight. Gee if you add Oswego, Fulton, Geneva and Batavia to the Rochester area....that's alot of drum corps!
