kevingamin
Opening soloist on Sleep sounds really good tonight. Horns have turned front and are now playing the impact of the song. Love the pit player with the tenor solo to open the fast tempo section of the show. Very intense. Drum feature. Serious power coming from the corps. kevingamin
Wow! OC is really pouring it on! Somebody's happy to be champions, I'd say.
kevingamin
Mellos have a quick feature, followed by the baris, and now the trumpets. Nice moment - Half the mello line lies down and plays straight up, as if they're asleep.
kevingamin
HUGE chord to finish the opener! Crowd ovation is strong. Now into El Tango/Channel One.
kevingamin
Great trumpet duet leading into the Channel One portion of the tango. Mellos very expressive in tangoizing the main theme of Channel One, a favorite music moment of mine.
kevingamin
Nice lean back and wail on the final chord of Channel One. Now swiching from Red to Blue in the spectrum. Tuba soloist sounds incredible on his Rhapsody in Blue solo. Crowd REALLY liked it.
kevingamin
Fantasia on the Dargason. I played this with my community band in June, one of the classics in band literature, but OC takes it a step further and mashes it up with Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra. The two selections meld very well.
kevingamin
Into the closer now. A mello soloist plays a snippet of Over the Rainbow as the sun comes up in the corner of the field and the trumpets have a great double tongue feature they play backfield. Tenors now on very interesting flat tenors, essentially large heads without a shell. A very unique sound.
