BHOF Springfield Review

Recommended Posts

The Buglers Hall of Fame Springfield Regional had it's best yet field of competitors AND Corps in Exhibition!

In the competition the percussion fielded 4 individual and 2 ensembles. In the individual snare Chris Meade of CT Alumni bested corps mate John Monahan and Pittsfield Red Knights Michael Eisenberg and Chris Mossman to take the gold. The percussion ensemble was won by the host Melha Drum Corps edging out a much improved Standish Guard of Plymouth.

In the brass there were 10 competetors and The Marksmen ruled the day with Kyle Krug besting CT Alumni's Claudia Furman and Gary Belion in the soprano catagory. Steve Wolf edged out the Defenders Dan Skinner and The Troopers Tom Michalsky on baritone. On Contra Alan Sapouckey won over The Troopers Tom Michalski. Note this is not an error Tom competed on two horns! On midrange Gerry Roderick of Mass Brass bested Betsy Halla of Pittsfield Red Knights.

The Marksmen Mini Corps had the crowd cheering as they performed selections from the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar.

In exhibition, the host Melha Drum Corps performed with their Glockenspeil section.

The missilemen Alumni of Winthrop MA fielded a large drum battery and a single soprano with an electric bass guitar and was very impressive!

Ct Alumni Brought the house down with 25 plus horns and a solid battery playing selections that included Caravan and of course Hang em High and Mag 7!

The Centurions of Enfield Ct and Feeding Hills Ma performed their 2013 show entitled Maroon, Black and Gold. They were short a few members, as this was a rescheduled show, but they still had a very strong showing and impressed the crowd.

Capital Brass of Albany NY IS BACK! They performed a wide variety of music including selections from Queen, and Tower of Power and even had a Long drum solo! I did not time them but I believe they were on the floor for at least 20 minutes and left to a roaring standing ovation!

The Melha Drum Corps once wishes to thank our judges Dave Negri and Dave Dion for a job well done. :worthy:/>/>/>/>

We also would like to thank everyone who came to perform or just to watch the show.

The videos should be up soon on BFDTV. Our thanks to them as well! Plan now to be here in 2014! The date is Saturday April 12.
