ftwdrummer Posted October 13, 2013 Share Posted October 13, 2013 (edited) If we were doing this in a couple years, you could use the new stadium in Santa Clara. Alas... Seattle'd be nice too, now that they've remodeled UW's stadium. Phoenix is good, in that you could take advantage of the other stadia in the area, too (i.e. Sun Devil) for prelims/semis. Other possibilities: San Jose, CA (Spartan Stadium): Berkeley, CA (California Memorial Stadium): That said: I'd currently lean toward Phoenix, and plan on a Bay Area finals (Santa Clara, Stanford, Berkeley) next time things come out west. Galen Posted October 14, 2013 Share Posted October 14, 2013 San Jose is too small for a finals venue (imo), but is the right size to host a regional championship venue during off-seasons. Lately I've been leaning toward "mid-sized" college venues (in the 30,000 seat range) during off-seasons and larger venues during live seasons, and San Jose certainly fits the mold for what I look for for off-season venues. Fresno, CA - a good stadium that hosts a band show every fall supported by a good college band program... but, it's FRESNO. Just outside of the middle of nowhere (500,000 people or not). Stanford, CA - yeah, but DCI and DCPI are here every season and I kinda want a new location. I vote no. Phoenix, AZ - very nice stadium in a state that absolutely sucks. If we want to go Southwest, I would suggest UNM or NMSU next door in New Mexico. San Jose, CA - surprisingly small stadium with virtually no staging. It used to host band shows until it just became impractical. Berkeley, CA - a nice stadium, but totally not feasible if we're going for any amount of realism. The Cal-Berkeley campus is wedged into the hills, and Strawberry Canyon (where the stadium sits) has limited access points. There's almost no parking (most fans walk or bike to the on-campus stadium for games) and no "clear space" for warm-up zones. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
