Sideways
Time for a Change is a Kenton tune I played with Cru back in 2000. Could work very nicely with some Don Ellis music. Please no Malaguena though!!
84BDsop
OOOOOOOO!!!!!! I REALLY wanna see them pull off 33 222 1 222 or Pussywiggle Stomp on the Ellis side (much as I love me some Strawberry Soup, nothing can surpass the 83 version...so bring some NEW Ellis to the table)23 North 82 West for the Kenton side?? For those who haven't heard them: 33 222 1 222 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSW-YXUw1PY (I really wanna see them march to this one!)Pussywiggle Stomp http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wI9caeoZ_kM (THAT'LL look good on the CD liner notes! Kinda like 81 X men and "Bustline"...remember THAT typo?)23 North 82 West http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdiWwGmML5k (Played this one in college on the field...although only the opening layered section....transcribed it for Nightfire in 96)
scout9193
Ever since Robert Smith came on board I've wanted to hear my guys take on "Adventures in Time" (or at least part of it)...guess I've always just loved 1986 Suncoast. It would also be freaking awesome to hear "33 222 1 222" or "Future Feature" by Don Ellis.
Michael Boo
Oh, there are SO many ways this can go right and perhaps no ways it can go wrong.

MaestroBen
Oh, there are SO many ways this can go right and perhaps no ways it can go wrong. You know, they could play "Music of Stan Kenton and Don Ellis" for about the next decade (and, sure, for you Malag(uen)a haters, not play Malag(uen)a at all) and still have at least 10 great shows.
perc2100
Strawberry Soup, Niner-Two...would be awesome. While I love those charts, I'm OK not hearing them again. I'm in the minority, but I'm not a fan of the pseudo-retread shows. There is a plethora of Kenton/Ellis literature to draw from without repeating past shows. And FWIW, I LOVED Madison & BD 93 w/Ellis charts; I didn't even mind double helping of Strawberry Soup & enjoyed seeing the two different interpretations. If I want to see a great corps do Strawberry soup, I can just pop in 1993 and see TWO great corps: don't need to see it again
